The last movie I’ve watched back in theaters was back in January 2020 before COVID. No one wants to sit in an assigned seat anymore with someone right next to you chewing and talking or giggling loudly and at home you can pause the movie anytime you want if you have to use the bathroom. I get why watching at home is totally convenient.

I still go to the regal cinemas with my friends and family. But, the next time anything happens to any locations in Orange County, California going out of business, then I’ll be sad 😞 until I go to amc, krikorian, Cinemark, or 4 Star 🌟 cinemas in the future.

Nobody blamed the people. But I guarantee you with Netflix, AppleTV, Hulu, Roko, etc. more people stay home to watch movies than go out and spend $100+ for a family of 4 to watch a 2 hr movie that may or may not be any good. The "experience" isn't worth the $20-$25/ticket, but that's just my opinion. I'm pretty sure a majority also feel the same. If you're going out on a date, hang with friends, couples night out, sure, that may be worth it to some. But a family nights out, hmmm, $100 or $15/month to watch all the movies you like.....and with the economy and costs nowadays, I guarantee more people are opting for the latter.

I have a crazy idea!! Why don't theaters offer more variety in movies, instead of the same-ass action and Marvel CGI shitfests every week? You keep saying these movies are going to save theaters, but, uh, it looks like maybe you people were wrong? Maybe there are people out here willing to pay to see something actually interesting?
@barbeonline351

Streaming services are killing theaters not just by providing an alternate venue, but like you allude to, movies are getting diluted down. Netflix, Amazon, etc. all trying to hire stars and produce content to compete with the studios. It is like if the NFL expanded to 50 teams. Not enough ideas, writers, and stars to go around--and everybody trying to do it on a tight budget (ask Alec Baldwin about small budgets). And streaming killed DVD sales. Saw Matt Damon interviewed where he pointed out that indie and art movies once could count on DVDs to make up for small box office revenue, but no longer. Everyone I know has an appetite for real movies, but don't see how they can get produced anymore....

Used to love going to the thetre to watch a film.... a great way to escape and lose yourself to the experience - even belonged to the "movie club" for discounts etc..... but going has become such a bad experience that I stopped cold.... yes, you have these nice plush reclining seats and better food and drink options - but the experience is ruined when people in your row CONSTANTLY get up to get more food, then go again, and again, and again.... then theres the couple that show up after the movie has started and use their flashlights to find their seat - only to leave it on for 5 minutes while they get themselves comfortable - then talk to each other THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FILM!!!! WHY??? People have become selfish, perpetually rude, self centered and downright pigs!! Another great pastime bites the dust because people have no respect!!

@@AdverbsAndNouns Netflix is not the only game in town. Besides, generally movie theaters specialize in blockbuster movies, which are generally available online as well. The only reason I see worth going to movie theaters is the wow factor experience itself. But then again, only a few movies are worth watching in the large screen and these days home theaters are getting lager better etc. Plus with all the time people spend on social media, who has time (or interest) left going to movies. Yes a few people, you may argue and you are right about that, but those won't make up the numbers that are necessary to keep a movie theater going.

I used to go regularly, but with the crazy "demand pricing" that could create wild price fluctuation, sky-high concession prices, endless 'previews' & advertisements before the movie, plus limited runs in the theaters, it just felt like the theaters were trying to fleece me any way they could rather than improve the moviegoing experience (rude patrons didn't help, either). And don't forget driving and parking. Its just not worth it anymore. Id' rather wait a few weeks until a movie that catches my attention comes out on a streaming platform and I can watch it at home when it's convenient to me.

i aint broke and i aint stupid either , you know how much it cost for a date night at the theaters these days average 90, dollars just to watch a movie because the popcorn is like 30 bucks drinks is like 15 like what the heck of course your going to lose your customers. i've manage accounts for 5 different businesses before and i'll tell you your charging way to much when you can charge only a 30 percent profit and get way more customers coming in to watch 2 hours of a movie and get more customers for another 2 hours , you have to encourage the new kids and teen generation to go in their with friends and families so they will become adults one day and encourage their kids to go but what kid is going to be able to go their if they cant afford it ? think about it take my advice the business will boom back if you do " find a share holder partner who has connections with parent animation companies to help promote theaters and exclusive movies just for your branch only . make movies like pokemon or love drama animation if hollywood actors are costing to much start drawing them im not kidding someone has to be dedicated in that business to make it come back to life again cant just invest into something and expect money to pile up if theirs no effort being put into it.

It's not all the theaters' fault, it's the movie studio's fault for putting crappy movies out such as that gay movie last year (Gay Bros?). which bombed at the box office. You're gay? OK, you're gay; go see & enjoy it. Majority of Americans don't want or spend their hard-earned money; there not interested in movies such as that one. Look at Top Gun Maverick; made a billion dollars? THAT is a movie to see in a theater not on a 100-inch TV at home. Look what Disney did to the Star Wars franchise. They bombarded us with what? One every year? One of them I guess was horrible & deluded the franchise. People will go to the movies when there's good quality movies.

THE MOVIES SUCK! Hollywood rehashes and recycles and remakes everything, and the stories are thin and childish.

I rarely go to the theatres anymore. People are annoying and if the movie sucks, I have to stay in one spot. Kinda hard to be comfortable in a seat thousands of people have sat on. Kinda gross to be honest. Rather have options at home. If a movie sucks I can just walk around With headphones and do something else til a good part comes up. Or play call of duty to kill the boring parts
