I heard Lisa Lisa everywhere in the early 1980s while I was in High School. To now know the reality of her cancer battle while only in her 20's and on top of the charts, is an amazing, sobering tale Thank goodness it was caught on time, or Lisa Lisa would not be here now to talk about it with us. I seen her at a freestyle concert when she was pregnant and she performed and glowed beautifully. A few years later I seen her again at another freestyle concert and she told the crowd she had a cold and would do her best to sing her signature song. Had the pleasure of meeting Lisa a little over 30 years ago while promoting (if I'm not mistaken) her first solo venture after leaving Cult Jam. I worked at HQ for an MTV competitor at the time. She was so humble and appreciative of the praise we gave her. She even signed my "Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam" CD which I still have today! I didn't realize we are the same age. She was so beautiful in person; I thought she was around 30 at the time I met her (we were 25). I'm glad to see her doing so well.

Lisa Lisa is my favorite singer and I want to thank her for providing the soundtrack to my youth. Whenever I hear her songs I am automatically taken back to my youth and so many happy and bittersweet times. My adult daughter knows that whenever she wants to put a smile on my face when I am feeling a little down is to play her music. I even got my first haircut as a teen to imitate her hairstyle.
