J Lo and many others owe her a debt for paving the way. Lisa Lisa and Gloria Estafan were huge successful Latina women in the 1980s. They were and still are spectacular. She had enough hits that she could play smaller venues for the rest of her life. Hall & Oats, Chicago, Depece Mode, The Cure..…same concept…big for a spell but then things changed.

But the fact that her biopic movie, for one, was made for a cable channel, namely Lifetime, which is like bush league, proves that her overall commercial impact is ultimately niche. There are people that sell tickets even now in far bigger and wider array of venues.

I heard Lisa Lisa everywhere in the early 1980s while I was in High School. To now know the reality of her cancer battle while only in her 20's and on top of the charts, is an amazing, sobering tale Thank goodness it was caught on time, or Lisa Lisa would not be here now to talk about it with us. She's as humble and as cute as she was many moons ago, with most of us from her generation still enjoying these songs. Thank you Lisa, and best of luck to you.

I seen her at a freestyle concert when she was pregnant and she performed and glowed beautifully. A few years later I seen her again at another freestyle concert and she told the crowd she had a cold and would do her best to sing her signature song. I wouldn't have know she was sick otherwise, such a great performer, her singing was perfection as always.

The sad thing is that back in the 1980s MTV would not play the I Wonder If I Take You Home video, whereas BET played the hell out of it. If it had not been for BET's Video Soul, Lisa Lisa, Cult Jam, and Full Force would not have gotten the attention they deserved because I Wonder If I Take You Home was the ish and still is. Yes! My first concert EVER! I’m more of a rocker but I listen to everything. Saw her here in Austin at the Palmer Auditorium in ‘85 or ‘86. I was 14 and me and my friend ran to the front of the stage and saw her right in front of us! Those were innocent teenage years. Awesome memory. She’s such a sweetheart.

When I was a young teen I thought she was so beautiful with her strong face. And now as a senior citizen, I still think she is still beautiful. I never knew she had breast cancer in her 20's!! God bless Lisa. I love her sound.

Had the pleasure of meeting Lisa a little over 30 years ago while promoting (if I'm not mistaken) her first solo venture after leaving Cult Jam. I worked at HQ for an MTV competitor at the time. She was so humble and appreciative of the praise we gave her. She even signed my "Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam" CD which I still have today! I didn't realize we are the same age. She was so beautiful in person; I thought she was around 30 at the time I met her (we were 25). I'm glad to see her doing so well.

Lisa Lisa is my favorite singer and I want to thank her for providing the soundtrack to my youth. Whenever I hear her songs I am automatically taken back to my youth and so many happy and bittersweet times. My adult daughter knows that whenever she wants to put a smile on my face when I am feeling a little down is to play her music. I even got my first haircut as a teen to imitate her hairstyle. I'm so glad that she is finally getting the recognition and honors she deserves. She truly deserves her flowers and I'm truly excited to see her bio on lifetime in 2025. I'm a 50 plus African American woman and her music truly transcends race because she will always be my favorite singer. In her interviews she always seems so humble and sweet like she doesn't even realize the icon she is all her fans lives like mine she has touched. Side note my middle name is Lisa and my closest friends who loved her music and knew i was her biggest fan would call me lisa lisa too. I'm' a Lisa Lisa fan forever!!!!😊😊❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Oh my gosh, we as supporters back then had NO idea. To think how she was everywhere and going through all of that through such a tough diagnosis. God bless her for having the strength to want to continue showing up for fans through her illness, we were none the wiser. 🌹❤🩹🌹
