Swimmer attacked by nursing monk seal in Hawaii

A woman swimming at Kaimana Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii, was attacked and injured Sunday by a nursing monk seal, one of the most endangered seal species in the world. A local marine preservation group said there were several warnings about the nursing seal's aggressive behavior and that there was a rope perimeter on the shoreline for weeks.

The woman who was attacked, ignored multiple “do not swim” signs. She got in the water, knowing the seal and her pups were close by. Her husband was filming her from above and you see the woman stop and square up to the seal, instead of getting out of the water. She should be fined for swimming where she was told not to. Ignorant and dangerous, people do not care and think they’re above the rules.

Because there are volunteers constantly telling tourists not to get in the water when seal is around. I think she went swimming when she didn’t see the seal (I would never do that because that means she is around somewhere and she’s coming back soon ) there are signs and volunteers 24/7 making sure no one gets close to the seals. So now she’ll have to deal with endangered species law enforcement.

This video makes me cry. Not because she got hurt or the animals, but because how great some people really are. All those people jumped up to help her and make sure she’s okay.
