I feel bad for the elderly people who live alone, and might not be able to get up and leave as quickly. An area with this type of population getting hit for the first time DIRECTLY can be devastating. Especially if it’s Category 3 or higher.

@HansReichhardtsohn With hurricanes being a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ and you got more moving their it’s just more to file a claim. Eventually it’ll be cheaper and ‘Smarter’ in my opinion to not have insurance and just build a structure to withstand the environment.

Higher prices on lumber up in the north as well. The demand for plywood and OSB sheeting is going up in prices. Among other materials. Up north we feel the cost as well. Before Katrina 4x8 sheet of OSB was 10.99. during Katrina it was 17.00 a sheet.
