We have ICF houses now, no need to go full brick or cement. There's a lot of things that should be fixed out here, like making the foundations raised or building on columns in flood prone areas

Hurricanes are so much scarier than earthquakes but at least with hurricanes you know that they're coming and probably what they might do. But they last so long and get so intense! I have been in the '89 Loma Prieta quake in San Francisco, and I was in St Thomas during Hurricane Marilyn and by far Marilyn was worse. And was only a Category 3, as I recall.

They report what the instruments tells them. It was a category 5 for two days. It's impossible to know what or where it's going to go. If they forecast a category 3 and it comes ashore a category 5, people would say they didn't tell me it would be so bad.

Thank you to the American People for shedding a light on FEMA's incompetence and trying to hold them accountable. We will see what help FL gets. Here in Augusta area, it's our 1. Neighbors/churches. 2. GA Power. 3. Local government. If FEMA did Not come, we would Not notice except save a lot of time, headache on trying to apply and get rejected for the $750 assistance. Some people are saying they are getting the $750 when they appeal or reapply. Here in Augusta GA FEMA is a barrier for even the $750. I know lots of people with high deductibles and insurance lowballing costs for damages (so more money out of pocket).... these people still get denied for the FEMA $750/household.
