Section 8 is a bandaid to the indirect and direct result of long-term systemic bias, redlining, and NIMBY mindsets that has made housing unaffordable for even non-minority families. When a building burns down, you don't just blame the fire, investigators sift through the rubble to get to the source of the problem. Stop blaming the fire.

Antioch's mayor has disparaged every other city around Antioch at one time or another, up to and including a near physical confrontation with a council member from bordering city. Now he wants their help to solve the problems that he contributed to, yeah go kick rocks. No other city should be doing patrol work, or answering calls, only respond to assist, not to do the job. I'm sure the national guard would be a good look for them.

Antioch always seems like a quiet town ,but since the 90’s , some parts are way worse. Its always the obvious ghetto , Sycamore the section 8 apartments /houses that has crime in Antioch , it’s a 100k+ city , big as San Jose. people exaggerate how dangerous it is here but reality it’s just Sycamore & the people that live / visit there. every city has a bad part.

I would say condemn the whole neighborhood under eminent domain and put a city buikding complex there, but that would be inhumane. So's the gentleman who said it was "just" a little shooting, in my opinion. Seems callous.

Community policing should be the model, when people can’t trust the police they will trust their community. When an armed and dangerous police force is shown to have clear and blatant indifference hatful and racist conduct the people will tend to protect themselves. It’s that simple you can’t just hire a bunch of people from out of town and call it community policing you can’t just have police from other communities come in because they should be policing their own communities in the spirit of community policing. I don’t think most people understand the mentality of Americans who can’t rely on the government for help and are forced to face their own threats head on leaving public safety up to the public when police one had one job!
