Never thought we’d have a Yelp review for a suicide net

Sadly, that is just a small part of the solution. How many suicides happen everyday not from the bridge?? Money could be spent on so much better mental health help and access to prevent suicides. BUT! It costs too much to add beds and qualified, competent, knowledgeable and compassionate professionals.

There is a huge difference between people that actually care and people who that get paid to care NOBODY CARES it’s San Francisco land of tents and people that enjoy the misfortune of others LOL only in San Francisco California

Anything that can give people a second chance is a good thing... I'm glad this barrier has been build even at the horribly inflated cost. Still worth every penny... RIP to all of those we've lost on the bridge before...

I pray for all who was lost on this bridge and that all the families will be comforted. The man who said " I'm going to the bridge, if anyone smiles at me I won't jump." I wish I could have been there to comfort and hug him and others. I'm glad there's a net. The Golden gate bridge is my heart❤🌁🌉

I fish around there and the water is insanely rough,you can get taking under and kept under and either swept incoming or outgoing its nasty under the bridge Lots of great whites around also

I've seen many bridges where they've talked about suicide nets. They're not as popular as the GGB. The Coronado bridge; San Diego, Sunshine Skyway; Florida, George Washington; NY, Verrazano Bridge; NY; and many others around the world. I wish money could also be invested in mental health.

So what happened if the jump hit the barrier and jump again?
@jelibean849 ай бұрын
If someone is that determined to die, they will find a way, and, yes, they can certainly make their way off that net if still able to. However, the net is to give a brief second chance after that initial jump. For some, it may be just enough for them to reconsider and hopefully realize that they don't really want to die. I don't know about the financials, politics, and scientific backing of it all, but I think that is the intent or theory.

Waste of money. I could jump that and then jump it again to fall in the water. Anyone can. Is not like there is a barier that’s stopping you or anyone from standing up from the steel fence and jump into the water

I mean it’s probably going to hurt from the barrier so perhaps just roll over to the water?
@gregsmith89774 ай бұрын
@@ceceparra the barrier is so that people have a chance to reconsider, which a lot of people who have jumped the bridge say that they wish they didn't jump.
@Ericah812 ай бұрын
Couldn’t they just crawl on out on the net and jump over it?
@OneManBassoonBand9 ай бұрын
Is it really necessary keep emphasizing that they put the net up on both sides? Who was expecting them to only prevent suicides on half of the bridge?
@infiniteinnocence9 ай бұрын
It's because most suicidal jumps have happened on the east facing side of the bridge. So it's good to know that the net is on both sides.

$224 MILLION for this, so some people can tell themselves and eachother what compassionate people they are. If someone wants to jump, this just adds an intermediate step. That money could have been better spent by reducing taxes or making the terrible things around here less terrible.

i agree, 224 million spent on supporting people with depression would save many more lives than a giant net
