The metropolitan population of Detroit ranks 14th among US cities with an NBA team. ANY amount of research and you can conclude the Detroit has an average/slightly above average market.

Yes it is. NYC, BKN, LA, GWS, and CHI are big market cities because of local TV rights, reach, and metro population. Cities like DET, MIL, and CLE are considered small market

@@RudieObias Read my reply above. Detroit has the 14th largest metropolitan area in the US. Some of the most passionate fans in the world. Imagine if we had a decent team fighting for a 7-8 seed... we'd easily be top 9 or 10 in attendance. Nobody is calling the Lions a small market team these days

GM Weaver selected Williams and rewarded him with a six-year, $78.5 million contract with a two-year team option that would top out at over $100 million. Weaver and Williams had a relationship stemming from their time in Oklahoma City. The Pistons have had four consecutive lottery picks highlighted by Cade Cunningham, the 2021 No. 1 overall pick. Detroit also drafted Killian Hayes (No. 7 in 2020), Jaden Ivey (No. 5 in 2022) and Ausar Thompson (No. 5 in 2023). Hayes started 31 games for Detroit last season but was waived Feb. 8. The Pistons have the No. 5 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, which begins June 26. Detroit needs better basketball people….. and the need not be so quick….to puller the trigger!
