Actor Kevin Bacon, who gained fame with the 1984 film "Footloose" (and even more fame with the parlor game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon), talks about celebrity; his new Showtime series, "City on a Hill," in which he plays a corrupt federal agent in Boston; and about his charity, called - what else? - Six Degrees. Was an INSTANT Fan of Kevin Bacon when I first saw him appear as Chip Diller in my one of my All time Favorite Movies..."Animal House"....He reminded me so much of my older brother.....we laugh about that to this day! I have followed him since then and NEVER been disappointed with his Craft. Always admired him too as coming off very humble and not jaded as Hollywood tends to leave Actors after a while in The Business. Cheers Everyone

“Footloose” was primarily filmed in my hometown; American Fork & Lehi, Utah. My mom took me to watch them film the scene where “Ren picks up Ariel for the prom.” It was the highlight of summer, 1983! The church where John Lithgow played the local reverend is still there; sadly the house where Ren picked up Ariel was torn down years ago to build a grocery store.

Actually you should look back on Brad Pitt. No he didn't go under the knife. But for many years he actually did botox to fend off the aging process. I don't blame him. But he still did have the usual Hollywood fear that he would age and not get the leads. Finally he did stop once he started his family

Went to the theater to see “Animal House” when it came out, as a kid. We couldn’t stop laughing. Glad he came to accept the concept of the game. Because anyone who has ever been in a feature film from any era can indeed be connected to him within six movies, used to play the game a lot and it’s true.

Kevin's father was Edmund Bacon, an American urban planner, architect and author. During his tenure as the executive director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission (1949 to 1970), his visions shaped today's Philadelphia, to the extent that he is sometimes called "The Father of Modern Philadelphia". He died on October 14, 2005.

*I've noticed over 65-years that there are 'Actors' and there are 'Movie Stars'...and the common denominator seems that real 'actors' always 'put their best' into any role, large or small, using the rationale of 'This role will always be around, but I won't be...and I want people to say "I wish so-and-so were still around...he or she would be perfect to play this part even though it's not the 'lead'...it's still crucial to the story"* *People like Cagney/Robinson/Bogart/Peck/Tracy/and the immortal 'Laughton' put everything they had into a role, even if the movie was just 'filler' or poorly directed or something they personally didn't care for as a role...and I admire that quality* ( *who will ever surpass Laughton as 'Quasimodo' or 'Captain Bligh?' Likely no one, or Karloff as the 'Monster' in "Frankenstein", a role that defined Boris's entire career, yet he never turned his back to it, saying "That role has given me a career that's been very good to me and my family...and I don't regret it at all that people believed me as the 'Monster'and don't remember my other performances on film because it's really the story that people remember...a great story can never die because people won't let it die, and I'm happy I was a part of a great story told on film"* )

Lately I’ve been very busy blogging about every subject under the sun, I know to one who is not one, blogging can seem like taking only a few minutes to post, in reality that is all it takes, not the weeks of prep, research and thought that govern the most successful postings. As a Bostonian who made a concerted effort to lose the accent, the Boston accent is hard to imitate. The only actor who wasn't native that I ever heard do it right was Frances Sternhagen, who played Cliff Claven's mother on Cheers. John Rastenberger as Cliff made a valiant effort, though.

I will always love his story about the lady who hated him and didn't want him for Footloose. Her words were that "He's not fuckable". Fortunately for the rest of the world he appeared fuckable. They never mention his movie "She's having a baby". That was a good one, but I'll never forget the first time I saw him in Animal House. He did a great job in "The following" which only lasted 3 seasons but I loved it. He and Shawn Ashmore made a great team.
