I've been moved up to Masters this year too! Our 1st community day was just a few days ago. I understand the worry about looking silly to them. What if they think I'm a dork if I pull a few Abecedarian tricks out of my hat? Turned out that they were the sweetest bunch. I think it's going to be a very fun year! Thank you for the ideas!

I randomly select 3 cards and put a sticker on the back of them. I lay the cards out face up and let students take turns selecting a card. We sing/say all the timeline for the week leading up to that card then I turn it over and see if it's a bomb or not. There's not really penalty if they hit all the bombs- it's just a way to add a little drama :). Hope that helps!

Thank you for posting! This will be my first year as a tutor and it is very helpful! How did you come up with your ideas? Do you have a photo of the classroom you use on your community days?

I have no idea how I come up with things 😂 some are ideas I have read on the Facebook tutor page and then just make them work for my class. Some just come to me as I am planning or walking around my house. I don't have a photo of the classroom I am in this year.

I really just find mine by searching the forums, the tutor Facebook page and the tutor band page! I have accumulated a lot of ‘props’ over my 7 years of tutoring. Just start with a couple games and then add as needed’

Hi there ! I love your videos. I had a question and wasn’t sure how to message you so commenting here. I’ve seen you use little toy guitars for the little ones sometimes for history songs. Do you have any suggestions or where to look for best price ? I’m thinking Dollar Tree but if there’s another place let me know. Oh also those funny fingers that they wear sometimes ?

Yes the dollar tree is where I found the little guitars. They often have acoustic and electric ones. The finger puppets I have found at lots of different places but I think the ones you are asking about I found at target in the party favor aisle.

This is my first year tutoring a Masters class. Out of 8 kids, 4 are pretty much brand new to CC. For Timeline, do you have any suggestions for what to do for a group with so many Masters who are new to CC? Would you still recommend the Bomb Game? Or do you have another suggestion for an activity for the Masters to become familiar with the Timeline song and hand motions?

I think the Bomb game is great for any age/ability really! It’s ok that they don’t know the song- I would tutor up to the kids that have been in CC a while encouraging the new ones to participate as much as they can. Remember you are just giving ideas to the parents on ways they can work on the material at home- and I’ll bet you’ll be surprised how quickly the new kids pick it up
