I purchased some inexpensive silicone musical wristbands for them to wear on their left wrist... remind them that the left hand is on top. I also brought some bubble mix and let them blow some bubbles. If they blow too softly, no bubbles. If too hard, no bubbles. Only if they blow gently will you get bubbles. Then I remind them to always blow with “bubble breath.” This class demands that the student brings their tin whistle. When we started a couple of years ago, the kids would forget to bring their whistle... plays havoc with the lessons. Last year I told them weeks in advance how important it is to bring their whistle. If they remembered, they would get a treat. Bribery? Yes, but they remembered! I gave them some “smarties” and they loved them. BTW, I purchased a spare to have in class if they forgot (but no treat).
