That's a satisfying fix right there. I also have noticed the high melt point solder used on the newer electronics.

I have not had one single problem with the cc wi fi radio it is the best thing I have ever owned. I ordered a cc wi fi 2 just an hour ago. CCrane has always treated me great when I have a radio issue. All our radios are ccrane.

I also own this radio, it has been the biggest pain in the ass. Glad you like yours, I'm seeking a simple to set up Wifi to replace mine. Everytime the wifi goes out I have to re-set-up the radio. Usually with help from C.C. I'm fed up calling for help, they only take calls on weekdays, this radio sucks. However I need a WiFi Radio If you're not a tech guru, this isn't the radio for you, everything revolves around that one big round dial. My dial is worn out trying to set this pig up so many times. I'm holding out for someone else to sell a wifi radio more user friendly.

I have my beef's with the operation of this radio as well. In your situation, you need to resolve why the wi-fi is dropping out. That's the #1 problem, not the radio. I suggest to remove the password from your wi-fi router to make it easier for the radio to connect. Everyone is "so" hung up on password protecting EVERYTHING. So what if your wi-fi network has no password!

KM, My issue is Comcast Cable, they are the reason I lose my internet, it's their router too. I lose Comcast several times a month at around 1:30 A.M. in the morning. Now I don't always know it's Comcast, so I start fiddling around with the radio. My beef is, this radio is too hard to set up in the first place. If it were Easy to set up, I wouldn't get so frazzled. CC needs to update this radio so old people like me can play it !!!

Something tells me it was the powerpack the whole time. That brown goop looks like the glue they used to secure the screws and stuff like on the usb connector.
@KlondikeMike10 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with you. During the heat of the battle you go with the obvious. I think the brown goop was a sloppy mess left by the 10 year old factory worker from China.

I have this radio. It seems a wrong move of box or plug in cord at the box, turns it off. Have to jiggle cord , set it just right to come on. Idea? Who can repair? Should I send it to C Crane?
@KlondikeMike7 жыл бұрын
You've made it this far ... fix it yourself. Either a faulty power connector from the wall transformer, easy replacement found on eBay. Or the chassis connector maybe has a loose wire. Crack it open to confirm. Otherwise, pay someone >75$ to resolve.

I just got my crane CWF radio really like it,but I have noticed the heat build up . Your (emmy grade) video shows that I could vent the top surface of the radio,without "hitting anything and causing damage by using my Dremel and a small dia. drill Would you comment on this
@KlondikeMike8 жыл бұрын
+Wilhelm Haggner - I have no heat build up here. I'd crack it open and see what you find. If nothing, I'd cut open a vent.

Was just checking out this WFI Radio and found your video that I watched all the way through. I have just started playing with electronics by taking a course at Instructables.com. I was attempting desoldering some capacitors from some old curcuit boards using my new Weller WES51 Soldering Station and had great difficulty getting the solder to melt. I was using a setting of 650 degree F and using a soldering wick. Do you think it would help if I increased the temperature. This is probably a stupid question but like I said I am new at this.
@KlondikeMike8 жыл бұрын
- Some solder have higher melt points. The solder in this WiFi radio specifically has a higher melt point than usual. If it doesn't melt, all you can do is increase the temp until it does.
@eyesalooking8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That is what I gathered from watching your video but just wanted to get your opinion. I will give it a try at a higher temperature. I have a Solder Sucker device on order that may work better than the soldering wick that arrives tomorrow. Enjoyed your video.

I love my wifi cc radio. I have 2. I have had them for a while ( 1 for a couple of years- the other about 7 months ). At times I have to disconnect to regain the connection. Simple radio to use. I'm experiencing an issue. I have the same 3 radio stations programmed on both radios. They have been programmed the same for a long time. One radio is outside the other I keep in my kitchen. All 3 stations come through fine outside. Just today 8/19/2020 - one of the stations I have programmed on the kitchen radio decided not to be connectable. The outside radio is playing that particular station just fine. Go figure. However, the kitchen radio says that the station is not connecting. The other 2 stations are playing well. So I decided to reprogram that particular station on the kitchen radio. It still doesn't connect. The home computer is in a room next to the kitchen. I can get that particular station on the computer and on the outside cc wifi radio. What else can I try? Any help is greatly appreciated. I need my cc radios! Thank you.

Select menu item; This option puts all settings back to their default, as they were when the radio left the factory. If you perform a factory reset on your radio, you will lose all your presets, clock settings, and wireless network connection settings.

Why don't you look for an electronic Picture frame and pinch the power adaptor that should be exactly 9 Volt.

@KlondikeMike Жыл бұрын
This product is now DEAD. It died a couple of years ago when Reciva died. Because of the poor design of this radio, you cannot connect to any new stations. If there were stations programmed into memory prior to the death date, you can still connect to those.

@@KlondikeMike Uma das invenções mais inúteis que já vi. A fábrica é que escolhe as rádios que quero ouvir? Isso é um absurdo. Coloquei no lixo, pois é um aparelho inútil. One of the most useless inventions I've ever seen. Does the factory choose the radios I want to listen to? This is nonsense. I put it in the trash as it is a useless device
