Television broadcast 2 is intended to act as a sort of summary to the mainstream developments in architecture and design in Europe up to 1900. Tim Benton looks at some of the architecture and interior design of this mammoth turn-of-the-century celebration and shows that, far from being dominated by Art Nouveau, the Exhibition’s most marked features were eclectic and nationalist.
Written by Tim Benton, directed by Nick Levinson, produced the BBC/Open University, aired 1 March 1975 on BBC2.

Tartarian Architecture, look it up. This was not an exhibition that was built in a couple of years. These were inherited buildings of a previous population.
