Awesome video, well done. I'm doing CCC next week and wondered if you could share what the trails and descents are like underfoot? How rocky, slippery etc. I'm unsure which shoes to wear!
@pcalitz Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex. So cool you’re getting to run this year. Have a great time. The trails are great, but of course it depends on the conditions. We had a big rain shower last year and it became very muddy on the singletrack , but after it cleared there were no issues at all. I ran in the Altra Mont Blanc and they were perfect for me. Great grip, and a fair bit of cushioning. Have a great run. Enjoy it as much as possible.

Well done! Hope to do this one day, it’s on my bucket list, after the occ, I’ve done a few smaller mountain runs, and can empathise with pain of dead quads.. must be hard not get dragged along with the pace when in a single track queue.. thanks for taking the time the film it.

Thank you so much. You should definitely give the CCC a go if you get the chance… but protect those quads. Wow, how I wish I was able to run, or even jog down those last couple of descents. Glad you enjoyed watching.

Gees that looked tough beyond belief. I saw recently that Courtney Dauwalter was also suffering from bad stomach recently and finally worked out that broth was the only thing she could keep down. I wonder if that would help you too. All the best and thanks for the vid.

Well done Pieter on pushing through to Chamonix. And nice documentary all the way, especially the summary and reflection at the end. Are there any paths in the Western Cape that is representative of the climbs and downhills you have encountered? I think I'm getting to old to still dream of doing the CCC, but just in case I want to do it after my retirement
@pcalitz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Wouter. The closest thing would be Mont Rochelle in Franschoek. The climbs there are so long and steep, I just wasn’t ready for them. I highly recommend doing any event at UTMB. It’s an unreal experience.

I have to ask Pete - where do you get your shirts? I'm on the wrong side of 50 and frankly I'd look better in running in those collared numbers than some of the generic wicking shirts around.
@pcalitz2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan. I have about 5 of the collared shirts I run in, and have acquired them from various places. Most of them are intended for hiking, and are available at outdoor stores. Look out for First Ascent shirts at Sportsman’s or Outdoor Warehouse. You’ll enjoy running in them.

It could have been such a nice video! But I just can’t hear you with the loud music in the background. Maybe edit it to lower the music or mute it completely when you’re talking to the camera. That would be much more pleasant to watch.
