They add to the scriptures too, instead of letting the word of God speak for itself. Read Matthew 15:1-14. The Bible came first too…. WE do not have any proof that Jesus existed and the historical candidates are a mixture of thieves and mad men. That makes so much sense, it aligns with God’s character so well. Through out the bible he always gives an opportunity to do right, if not he delivers justice and then he brings grace. First Adam and Eve, he rebukes Adam then makes him clothes for his nakedness. Cain killed Able, he curses Cain so he isn’t able to work the ground, but then puts a mark on him to keep him safe from being murdered himself. God gives an opportunity for humans to turn from their ways, we didn’t so he wiped us all out, but he gave us the grace of keeping Noah’s righteous family from judgement. This relationship continues and now God gives us grace to turn to Jesus, if not we get wiped out. It is sad for everyone including God but we all know justice has to be served. And this time, there will be no more grace. I’m just glad we got it in the first place.

Whether its financial problem, death, accidents, etc. This world is full of trials. We were created to worship Allah. And keep in mind that the Quran was sent down to this world around 1400 years ago. Back then things we find odd, was normal. And things we find normal were found odd back then and slavery was common back then as well, so was early marriages. If you read the histories of other country you will find child brides in royal families. You can find that even Mary married joseph at the age of 12 and he at the time was 90.

+Michelle Norris I'm not sure the problem is taqiyya. The majority of Muslims are Sunni (80-95% by most estimates), and the concept of taqiyya is derived more from Shi'a Muslim. There is little love lost between the Sunni and Shi'a. I think the bigger problem lies in the entirely different culture and education of Islam. Muslim religious students are not encouraged to think or question what they read. Their first step in serious faith involves the memorization of text, whereby they become Hafiz (a 'guardian' of the text). They thus base their understanding not on a personal understanding or reading of the text, so much as on what their scholars and leaders 'tell them' the text says. When people give text from the Qur'an or Hadith to Muslims, most do not know how to really read, interpret and understand for themselves what the text says... they simply fall back on what scholars have told them the text means. Many Muslims assume that if there is any Muslim answer (no matter how weak or illogical) to the Christian questions, then the Muslim must be right and more logical... even if they personally can't follow or understand the logic themselves. I think the solution lies down several paths: 1) Relationships: Building: Relationships with Muslims helps them to actually hear what people are saying, and accepting it as something worth really thinking about (vs blindly defending) 2) Education: As more Muslims are educated in Western systems, they will learn how to question and think. Sadly, I think this is being undercut by both Muslim religious schools and the declining standards of critical thinking in Western academic institutions. Political Correctness and Cultural Relativism are two of the culprits. 3) Witness:As Christians, our lives should be lived as living and breathing testimonies to Christ. As Muslims live alongside us, they should see the love, faith, humility and grace which come through Christ. Before we look at the problems of Islam, we should look hard and deep at whether we are walking faithfully in Christ's shoes. May God be glorified, both in us and in our Muslim neighbours.

DragoonEnNoir thank you so much for your reply. I do firmly agree with the problems first begin with the way they may be taught within the teachings of the Qur'an. As with any religion including Christianity, it can be used for evil instead of good ESPECIALLY when certain verses are cherry picked and then ignoring the context in which it was written or its followers do not grow within the times. I believe this is what has occurred within the Sunni culture (not saying it may not also be happening within the Shi'a as well though). I do not believe that this issue can be resolved any time within our lifetime however since this has been going on for centuries. As far as some of the cultural practices and beliefs are within their sharia laws go, the only thing I can do is bow my head in complete disgust. These issues have been instilled within the very fibers of the Muslim cloth itself. It is my belief that Islam has never gone thru its renaissance period of reformation and instead has somehow gotten snagged within its own Dark Ages. I don't know when or if ever that Islam will be able to be at TRUE peace with not only western society but within their own spiritual and societal upbringing so long as new generations are being taught the same lessons of hate and distrust from essentially birth. It is because of this sad fact that until they have their own holy war within the Muslim community itself that they and the rest of the world will have to try to deal with wherever the cards may finally lay. Don't take me wrong however. I'm not saying that all is lost. Change is not only possible within society, it is pertinent for its growth. With some Muslims becoming more and more "westernized" we can start to see a very small percentage of change from those who live only to wage jihad with any non Muslims. I do not believe though that mass migration into western countries is the way it can be achieved however. For one thing, there is no good outcome when a massive cultural clash takes a grip for either culture. My case in point can lie within what Sweden and Germany is going thru now. Both countries are having a massive increase in crime of all matters and strong civil unrest. In the end, I still remain staunchly uncertain we will ever find a true peace so long as there is a belief system out there whereas its followers ascertain that peace is found solely upon a precipice that lies within conquering or killing any that oppose such as those we are dealing with now.

Michelle Norris Mt pleasure Michelle. I think true peace will only come with Christ, in part in this world, and fully when He returns in glory. I agree with you fully about the impact of any mass migration, but especially one which is at odds with the host culture. I wonder where God's heart is in this though. One of the positives of Muslim migration is that for the first time, many of these cultures are being exposed to the Bible and those who follow Christ. While this may destroy Western cultures, this may be God's door to speaking into the Muslim world. Terrifying thought, and I certainly don't think that is the only possible pathway. My desire is to hear God's will and follow Him though. May He provide clarity on where His road continues, especially in these confusing times.

For someone who is telling other people to get their eyes checked and look at the context, you yourself fail to understand the context of the Canaanites. The slaughter of the Canaanites was not a holy war to conquer or try and make converts. The slaughter of the Canaanites was because GOD JUDGED THEM. God was patient with the Canaanites and allowed their wickedness for 400 years, giving them every opportunity to repent and turn from their wicked and abominable practices. They would fornicate, and then when the baby was born they would sacrifice that baby on the heated arms of an idol. The child literally sizzled to death in the arms of this pagan god. Do you want to know what is even worse? They would beat these huge drums during this entire ritual…to drown out the screams of agony coming from the dying infant. For upwards of 400 years they did these and many other wicked things. So bad was their sin and so dark were their hearts that if atheists were to stand and watch any of it they would cry out indignantly, “how could God allow people to do this?” But God didn’t allow it forever. He gave them 400 years to repent. And after 400 years of unrepentance, God used the Hebrew army to bring judgment on them. That is how serious their sin was in God’s eyes. This was not a case of God being a cosmic mafia boss and saying, “Canaanites-want ‘em dead!” God is both merciful and just: he didn’t wipe them out from the start. He respected their free will for 400 years. So don’t compare the two. One is a religion whose primary mission is to subdue all who do not believe as they do (Islam) and the other is based on the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the one who sent His son to die for our sins, even though He was not obligated to do so. We are all sinners. And every sin deserves punishment. God is certainly just. But Jesus paid our fine, which is both justice as well as mercy and grace.

Mate, he literally said not to pretend that the Bible is not violent. The difference being that in that the apostolic message, being the completion of god's message in the eyes of Christianity, does not incite violence. Mohammad's law and his personal example does justify it. The crusades were horrific, but let's not pretend that the message of the Gospel instructed them to be carried out.

Gotta love people who take things out of context. Yes, 9:5 talks of killing people. But it does so in context of an ongoing war with people who broke a contract they made with the muslim community. It is one of the main rules in Islam that aggression towards other humans can only be justified if someone attacked you first. In verse 9:6 the Koran continues to point out that God is forgiving and that you need to give protection to non-muslim if he asks for it. If you are going to quote, do it right. Or you are no better than those who use quotes taken out of context to legitimate their fucked up belief system.
