Similar to the Japanese pilot knife and other war aviator knives. Interesting with the double tangs - stronger than the "center stick" with threads for the pommel. Good to see you Jake, it looks like the vacation did good! And, with that cliff hanger I'm going to be staying curious!! PS. I recently found out how right you are saying "not towards your thumb" - fiddling with a low hanging branch on a forest path. Thumb was far from blade until it wasn't. Luckily it was the fancy penguin and it was shaving sharp, so it was a clean cut that healed up fast.

I-40 in eastern NM is horrible as well. You know it's bad when semis are swerving to avoid potholes!

Yes indeed, that is a very bad sign. In Colorado they had signs warning people to stay to the right except to pass (repeating every few miles!), but we drove in the left lane anyway because it was only about half as holey.
