I think that the ITC “Compass” and “Rainbow Diamonds” has the same fanfare, because of Big Daddy Kane’s “It’s a Big Daddy Thing” where it got sampled. The “Rainbow Diamonds” can also be found on “The Muppet Show” as well, including a TV print of “The Muppet Movie” where it was shown on TV. I spotted them on one of the openings to “Family Classics” on WGN-TV back in 1994, and that one would never appeared again, because Disney now owns the Muppets.

A google search for the company that did Dark Crystal (and Space 1999) led me here. Strangely fascinating stuff. Thanks for making this. Great stuff.

It’s not a jumpscare, but this was an earlier variant of the “Rainbow Top” logo. They only used it for “The Muppet Show” during season 1, “Space: 1999” and others. Same with “Presents” and “Production” underneath the logo.

Now most of ITC's catalog owned by ITV PLC. Perhaps, one day there will be a streaming service just for classic movies. Really want to see classic movies in colors especially 1960's to 1970's.

ITC Entertainment's film catalog currently lies with ITV, plc. due to Seagram's selling off PolyGram Filmed Entertainment's superfluous assets. ITC Entertainment's film catalog bounced around from PolyGram to Carlton to Granada and finally to ITV.

While “The Muppet Show” was ITC, was later bought by Jim Henson Productions and Disney.

I don’t think any new logos after 1981 should be thought of as canon, as ATV was defunct and the company would never be the same again.

The reason ITC ended up in Polygram dates back to end of parent company ATV. Chairman Lee Grade had got over ambitious in his pursuit of the movie market rather than than sticking to what he knew best - TV and the company was subject to a hostile takeover from an Australian owner.Simultaneously ATV lost its franchise to run an ITV regional broadcasting franchise. The U.K. TV establishment had long been critical of ATV which they didn’t like because of its expensive glossy output aimed at US and international sales. There was a lot of snobbery in U.K. tv and boring videotaped plays set in council estates was what the critics wanted. I grew up with ITC and would always seek out their programmes and movies as a boy. One major thing missing from your logo history is ITC Film Distributors which was their movie distribution company in the U.K. This consisted of three windmills which spin and come together to form the diamonds.

Wot no wind flowers? Also, I'd have thought that ITC (who Imthink were hisrotically the international distributors of ATV's programmes) would be part of ITV plc nowadays.
