I'm glad someone else uses a pair of e914's for piano! You might want to try them in XY (90 degrees to each other, same plane, capsules barely touching) near the player, somewhere between the back of the hammers and where the strings cross. This is probably a good way to capture a stereo image (without phasing) when the piano is going to be in a mix with other instruments..

I'd also like to suggest ORTF (placing the mics crossed over each other at a 110 degree angle with 17cm distance between capsules). This near-coincident way of mic'ing gives a much better stereo image (more depth of field) than XY, though XY has a better sum-to-mono capability.
