Greenpath seems like a logical choice, though I may be biased since I usually go FC -> Greenpath -> Fog Canyon -> Fungal Wastes.
@stanislawwitkowicz9184 күн бұрын
... that's the default route. That's the only route that you can choose at this part of the game, with the only variable being when and if you go through Fog Canyon. I don't intend to be mean, but if you're biased towards Greenpath for choosing it consequently after Forgotten Crossroads every time, then so is 99% of the player base.

1:47 when you fight the false Knight in the pale form (The might Hegamond) , in the background you can see a busy road filled with bugs, trams and carts going along their day. While I don't think it's the same location (?) I think it's quite interesting sight of how busy the world was in it's prime
@sedoweteral20724 күн бұрын
This just goes to show how much effort Team Cherry puts into their environments. So much work is put into things you don't even notice. You can extract so much information on how these bugs lived, what they ate, how they moved around and when, just from the background sprites. It's for this reason Hollow Knight is one of the best games ever made of all time.

6:35 Just have to correct this (biology nerd alert) this is not actually a mold (molds are a type of fungus), but a slime mold- A polyphyletic group of Eukariotic creatures (none of them being fungi) that join together in big slimy forms to survive and reproduce more efficiently than as just lonely cells. In their slime-moldy forms, many of these organisms develop a impressively complex shared mind Physarum polycephalum is a Amoeba in specific. Slime molds being a polyphyletic group means that all of them may or may not actually be related. Like, for example- The term "flying vertebrate" describes all flying vertebrates, bats, birds, and pterosaurs, while all birds are related to each other they aren't closely related to bats at all, this is the same thing going on with slime molds, but its a bit worse, since none of them are molds.

7:25 These bodies, they remind me a lot of very simple pre-cambrian creatures. We can't expect the ancient civilization to be the first creatures living there, if a planet has a civilization in the first olace it must have gone through a long evolutionary journey. By how they are stacked that leads me to believe they lived in colonies, perhaps even attached to eachother. They are also pretty big for such ancient and simple creatures, which also leads me to believe the oxygen (or the gas that planet uses for life) was pretty abundant, and these creatures developed tracheal breathing (through the skin) which I assume was inherited by the later bugs (irl bugs breathe this way) Also, we must consider they are fossils, and fossilization requires some extreme conditions, the most common is sedimentary volcanic residues. And there are a lot of fossils, yet Hallownest has no volcanic activity that we know of. My theory is that Hallownest was once either an ocean, valley or depression, that some simple creatures, before a big life explosion (like the cambrian) occured, fell into, and thrived, building massive bodies and colonies. They developed tracheal breathing to use the high concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere/water as well, and survived until a massive volcanic extintion event (like the great dying) filled the place with sediment in a way that allowed almost all their bodies to be preserved in rock. The volcanoes would later become completely inactive.

YES YES CROSSROADS BACKGROUNDS LET'S GOOO!!! I loved rambling about it back in the day, happy to see a video talking about it now! I didn't know the names of the sprites and the freaking toll booth gave me a headache, I had no clue what it was and why it was locked up. I thought those were cradles XD It's interesting that the Black Egg Temple is shaped like a large caterpillar. Interestingly enough, having an egg inside the caterpillar body could mean one thing: Parasitoids. Which could be a fun symbolism considering the infection "eats" the bugs from the inside. C: I'm a greenpath simp so. :T Sorry Fungal, you're cool too tho
@mebisanimationsandotherstu89774 күн бұрын
Hadn't considered the parasitoid angle I was considering maybe some sort of parallel to the pale egg inside the wyrm carcass (but symbolic/poetic more than anything, the temple was definitely not a wyrm)

The visual storytelling in this game is an amazing blessing. The little details are so easy to miss, yet tell us so much. One of my favorite things Team Cherry does is corpses. These things are everywhere. They also vary in size. Some you may not even know are corpses. The Bench in Leg Eater's area is a corpse. You can even dream nail it. The Colosseum of Fools is made of the corpse of a fell beast. And that's not even bringing up all of the corpses in Nosk's lair.

Gotta say, I really like how your videos are structured, the pacing feels off? but in a good way?, it's weirdly refreshing somehow. The tone, and pacing of the words and sentences sound calm, in a "deep in thought" sort of way. I prolly phrased all that poorly, but the main takeaway is, I like your vids, keep it up! And yeah, all those small details in the game are really cool, shows how much work Team Cherry put in the game lol Anyways yeah I'm gonna vote for greenpath, really hyped to see the hidden things in there. Also wait, 2:07 is legit? I never knew that interaction was a thing, that's pretty damn cool!

Voting fungal wastes, but I wanted to bring the resting ground up since they’ve been on my mind lately. The resting grounds is a very weird place to me. It’s a place where someone built named memorials for the dreamers (something the king couldn’t be bothered to do). But it’s also a place where a traitor got a marked gravestone to be remembered. There’s gates/fences with the radiance depicted, one of the only places with any radiance imagery, but there’s also hallownest seal headstones. The resting grounds is a bridge between the crystal peaks (with the most iconic radiance imagery) and the city of tears (one of the areas most saturated with Pale king imagery).
