CCO Vlog - Episode 17 - Grady White 336 Canyon

We linked up with Luke Gonzalez and Marine Max in Miami to sea trial a Grady White 336 Canyon. This was our first experience on this boat and first Grady sea trial since the commencement of CCO.
We were first struck by the overall size of this 33' CC. With it's 11'7" beam and 33'6" LOA, this boat definitely leans towards the larger 33' CC offerings on the market today. It was a glass calm day, so we unfortunately couldn't test it's rough water capability, but everything within the gunnels impressed us significantly.
This is an excellent combination for fishing and family. You can do just about anything in this boat comfortably and with room to spare. The pop-up electronics display raises with actuators with a push of a button, which also doubles as security when docked or away from your boat. This is just one of the interesting features we liked and we hope this video shows you a good overall look at this Canyon 336 from Grady White.

I was really looking forward to seeing that rough water test out of Haulover. Oh well. Our waters up here in Pensacola are NEVER that smooth, if they are it is rare. I am a MarinMax member and I love my shop up here. I am looking at upgrading my 2015 240 Sailfish that I bought from them in 15 to the Grady White 306 Canyon. Very pricey but from what I understand they handle the chop really well, and that is what I want in my next boat. Good job man.

A late question for you all. Up North (NJ) I see a lot of GW, Boston Whalers and a few other boats. When I go to Florida I see more Yellowfin, Regulator, Contender. Any particular reason for that or is it just geography?

I think mainly because those are considered more "hardcore" fishing boats. A lot of it is just in the name, just like some thing GW and BW are supreme simply because of their name.

@@brianlb78 GW, Whaler, and similar are the rough water machines. Regulator, yellowfin, and contender are the 'go fast' boats.

Why are the motors spread so far apart? I’ve never seen that on any boat, those motors are mounted like 4ft on center! It’s like they forgot to mount the center motor. It makes the boat look like a catamaran! Did Luke happen to say why the motors are that far apart? Love the center console part of the boat though, Luke is right there is a ton of room in the console for a 33ft boat!

Hi Mark. great question. There are a couple reasons Grady designed and equipped the outboards in this position. Due to the wide beam which is wider than most of the competition, this outboard position allows for better maneuverability when in tight spaces docking using dual throttles, full range of motion for the outboards when Joystick (Yamaha helm master) is engaged. Also, when they were doing their product testing, they fixed the motors at several different positions and this position allowed them to achieve the best fuel efficiency, outboard performance and ZERO slip or cavitation when turning the boat hard over. luke gonzalez thank u so much Luke, that answered my question perfectly! And yeah now that u say the maneuverability is better, I can totally see that. Reminds me kinda like a tritoon, especially around the dock, those Tritoons that have twins on them can rotate in a circle twice as fast as a center console with twins or a runabout with twins because they are on the very outside of the beam pretty much. And just curious what other motor options are offered with that boat? Mercury 450’s?

Apparently, that is the sweet spot on that hull since it's so wide. Performance improved while testing, so that's where they stayed. Docking is a breeze with this thing as you can imagine.

Great boat. This boat is very large for a 33'. What kind of top speed does it have with the 425s?
