Watching the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race from a Grady White 336 Canyon

Welcome to a new series I'm calling DESTINATION - SYDNEY where we will be showing you different places and activities you can visit and enjoy on your boat.
In this video we watched the start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and as were had one of the best offshore hulls I've tested to date we decided to run way offshore and follow the Maxi Yachts around 15NM down the coast before we peeled off and ran hard into a very big chop to get back into the harbour. This Grady White 336 Canyon absolutely dominates the ocean and we were able to maintain 25kts with ease into the wind and boat chop which got us home in good time and comfortably.

Thanks! I appreciate that. I struggle to think of any other day boats that we could have successfully filmed this from as it was super choppy out there that day and the Grady ate it up like a toddler with a Jelly Bean Jar!

Dan, Grady whites are built to take it. I know all the years I lived in Florida that they were very popular boat for going out to fish 30 mi or so into the Gulf. Although, I have not seen a single one up here in Western North Carolina where I've been for the last 12 years.

G'day John, I can see why they have this reputation now. It's more than deserved as that hull was fantastic running at speed through the waves. The extra weight of the Grady gives you a whole different experience when compared to a cutting bow boat. Really happy to have had this opportunity to drive it. One day I will visit the US so I can actually understand these places everyone is talking about!

@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Dan, you have to get you a place over on the east coast of Florida and take a boat trip over to the Bahamas and down through the chain and do some fishing. Unbelievable fishing! Or make a trip down to the keys and see what Florida's slow life is. Or up the west coast and see beautiful places like Sarasota, St Pete Beach, and Clearwater.
