Talk Is Cheap came out just about the time during the changeover from albums to CDs was taking place. That this time CDs were just about to take over but enough albums were made of new releases for people who were slow to switch over to CDs. Although I was early to jump on the CD trend I have another of these limited manufacture albums that I found at thrift stores including The Traveling Wilbury's Vol I. Since they only made a limited number of them, in good condition they are a bit collectable. I would hang on to that older Talk Is Cheap album. :)

I was also able to compare the reissue CD to the original LP. So much more life in the LP.

He TJR, I also have all of them. Whatever the version, the album is a cracker! The reissue CD sounds extremely clinical to my ears while the reissue LP sounds warmer and probably how Keef intended it to sound.

Before I got the CD I had the cassette. Never heard the LP version. I haven't compared how the rerelease makes me feel compared to 80s version either. I enjoy this recording very much either way. I'd be interested in seeing what the LP wav format looks like compared to the CD - maybe with a cross comparison of versions of the opening track. Analogue ears are interpreters of facts either way. Thanks for the video TJ - always grateful for your input!!!

Thanks for the video, TJ! It confirms my experiences with other reissues. - A little advice: CD pockets today (like the ones in Talk Is Cheap) are really bad, they have a tight „grip“ on the CDs and make scratches. I believe I first bough this album on cassette. I also had the original cd and now have the reissue, remastered one. I also have an older Australian LP which sounds pretty good. I love these comparison videos. You have got me thinking that sometimes the remastered cd can be overrated and best to stick with originals. Sometimes anyways. lol

In regards to remasters: You never know. One thing that I hope I made clear. Is that Remastered CD release sounded fine to me when I first listened to it. But once I made the comparison against the original LP I realized, “Oh yeah. It sounds a lot flatter by comparison”. I think you can still enjoy the remastered CD because it’s that good of an album. But once I compared it. There was no going back to it. I’ll just play my original album or my digital transfer of it that rip to my mobile device.

I truly enjoyed this comparison video; I have all four of these versions as well as the MoFi gold CD. I haven’t done a comparison for myself. I really wish that Grundman or Gray would have done the reissue vinyl. I’m sure it would have sounded better.

I knew the originals would win. 😁🤣 I'd already heard from the music forums that this release was mastered too loud. I picked up the Keith Richards' "Live At The Hollywood Palladium" box set really cheap. And that CD wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, you can only play half the DVD. It wasn't authored properly. That's probably why I got the set so cheap.

The Mofi inner sleeves because they are thinner and will fit into your record jacket easier alongside the original sleeve
