Oh my Danielle! This was so scary for us earlier this year. We had taken our 2 small dogs to ES and when we were ready to return a few months later, the airline did not want to approve them. It was super stressful. We showed up at the airport not really knowing for sure if they'd be able to board with us. He's the cutest. So glad it worked out. Much love.

I have 2 dogs in Brazil that couldn't be brought to US...We did everything CDC asked for, and worked with the only lab certified by CDC in Brazil, serology and everything done. They denied the dogs' entry into the US, even though the dogs are perfectly healthy and don't have rabies and everything was done through the correct channels and according to CDC requirements, which is very expensive. Now my fiancé is in shambles and I would love to find a way to bring the dogs to America. Can you give me en idea of what to do in this case? Thanks for your time.

It is affecting American citizens who for work are in other countries with their dogs, it is inhumane, they must return and they are not allowed to return with their dogs despite doing the permit ... they require expensive laboratories and still do not give them guarantees , they did not think of their own citizens with their companion pets, I am asking that they can achieve ... es muy triste estan En Guatemala son mis inquilinos y no los piensan dejar ..

Estoy de acuerdo contigo el examen serológico es muy costoso por ejemplo en mi caso mi perro esta en República Dominicana y allá no hay laboratorios aprobados por los CDC entonces su veterinario tiene que enviar las muestras a uno aprobado ya sea en México, Estados Unidos Y Columbia y el costo es de 400 dólares. Además como dijiste en tú comentario, no es seguro luego de hacer ese proceso y los gastos que te aprueben un permiso de importación. Es muy injusto

I’m glad you were able to bring your doggie back and had a safe flight. May I ask how you got him to El Salvador? I’m planning on visiting El Salvador and would love to bring my dog with me. I was considering driving from California if I couldn’t find a way to bring her by airplane . She’s small Maltese . Also, are they certain places in El Salvador where dogs are allowed ? I would love to know your input . Sorry to many questions, I just haven’t been able to find a video with people traveling with their pets to El Salvador . Thank you !

MY AUNT ALWAYS TRAVEL WITH HER DOG FROM El Salvador to the US A LITTLE BIGGER THAN YOURS . She got a letter from a psychologist that says that her dog is her therapy companion (whatever that means) she doesn’t have mental issues but that’s her dog passport. She goes on her lap . Just an idea. I couldn’t leave my dogs either. Yay!

Danielle, when did you travel, my mom is in El Salvador with her dog right now... so if she books with avianca, she should be okay? They don’t require that letter at customs? According to the cdc you need a letter from them to bring a dog back (that lives in the US, and was brought down on vacation back in June)... please let me know!!! ☹️☹️☹️

Hi Foxy! She will have to check with the CDC to see exactly what she needs. Other airlines accept dogs in cargo and if her dog is less than 20lbs it should be able to go in the plane cabin with her.
