For the CDL Class A Road test, the CDL Class A Pre-Trip Inspection is the hardest part. The reason most people fail their CDL CLass A Road Test is because they do not get the right CDL Class A training and that makes them fail the Pre-trip inspection. The Road Test is split into 3 different sections the first part of the CDL Class A road test is to pass the CDL Pre-trip inspection you are going to be asked to do both an Inside air brake test as well as an Outside pre-trip inspection. The second part of the CDL Class A road test is a skills test. The student will have to master six different parking maneuvers and the last part of the CDL Class A road test is the road driving. This test will take two and a half hours to complete however it all starts with this CDL pre-trip inspection.
Most people fail in the first 10 mins of the test because they did not get the proper CDL Class A training on the pre-trip inspection. That is why we have created this video to show you how our students at Driving Academy get the proper CDL Class A training they need in order to pass the CDL Class A Road Test. We offer this video and much much more to our students when we train them for their CDL Class A Pre-trip Inspection. I took my class A test a decade ago. In Minnesota, in January. It was around 8 degrees and windy that morning. As a tree trimmer, I was in my element. My tester was not; she was a tiny little lady who was visibly shaking the entire duration of my pre trip, which she hurried me through. She couldn't wait to get in the warm truck and on the road. Not saying I wouldn't have passed in better weather, but I know for sure that the weather had some to do with me getting my CDL that day 😂

I used to watch a pre trip video from the company I was hired on to get my cdl. I watched the vid 2wice a day (45 min video). By the end of the month I memorized a large portion. I bring that up now because while Im pre tripping or encouter issues- I literally quote that video and it helps me tremendously. So while it seems pointless and a measure to get your cdl; it truly can save your butt in the real world

I just came back from Driving Academy in Linden New Jersey. First the staff working in the office were outstanding. They were so nice and kind to me. They were awesome. Next I went to the yard for training. I could not say enough about how great they were. They were excellent trainers and they give special attention to each and every student. I had been to two trucking schools and they were far more informative and helpful plus they were so very caring. I loved my time in New Jersey. They were so good at teaching driving of the big trucks. I was able to meet Johnston and he was so wonderful and gracious to me. I was able to meet Tony and he was just as great as Johnston. DMV failed my friend the other day because he didn't explain the why we are learning each pre-trip inspection. For example: For the Windshield Defroster he explained WHAT he was inspecting, but he didn't explain the why. Ex: The defroster improves visibility, especially during cold weather. Use the new book from the DMV and definitely learn a little about why we are inspecting each section required for the Pre trip inspection

That's stupid. Here's my defroster and heater they work properly as you put your hands near the windshield and you feel heat coming out. Some of these people who are inspectors are really crazy. In the real world your going to turn on the defrost heat and it either works or it doesn't work.

Yes you mention it right after your finish with you fluid levels you say no puddles under the truck and around my engine transmission my hoses and airlines are in good condition no fluid or air leaks

So you dont have to mention the the alternator, that its belt drivin etc and the air compressor and the coolant lines are leaking and not damaged and the power steering pump is gear driven, mounted securely and operating properly not leaking or damaged etc etc

Anything under 100psi is going to be a low tire. Especially for anyone that's running 80k+ gross weight. 105-110 is better. Most tires are posted at 110, for rated weight. But, still see some marked 105 occasionally.

I'm gonna do it. It's quite obvious that oil is for your engine power steering fluid helps you steer and antifreeze cooling engine. Some of theses people doing the inspection of a student are picky and they just looking for reasons to fail people. DMV makes money every time you schedule an appointment for road test. Seems like they know you are going to just keep going to make appointments for road skills test until you pass. All big money grabs. For school because they get to make thousands of dollars. And DMV fees every person getting a license. Where I'm from they love to fall people for dumb things. And the school state I train in that state charges 100 dollars every time for testing.
