Bringing the Burris RT6 back out for a retest, and I gotta say, it still performs quite well. It feel good in hand and looks good when you get behind it. I think this is still a viable option in todays marketplace. But what do you think??

I like reticles that do stuff and I don't care about LPVO illume so the RT6 is still alright in my book. The new Venom 1-6 is so good for the money though that it might be over for the Burris.

Unpopular opinion: The best low priced LPVO I’ve found is the Brownell’s 1-6 Donut. Fantastic glass, great clicks, decent eyebox. I personally love the reticle. It’s chunky though.

I still have mine based on your original recommendation and haven't seen anything super compelling to upgrade it to something else without spending a boatload of money that would be a marginal upgrade a shooter like me doesn't benefit from.

The RT6 is made in the Philippines....Nearly all others you mentioned including the Venom, Strike Eagle, SLx Nova and Sig Tango MSR are made in China ... I have a PST also made in the Philippines (great scope). I just picked up at RT6 at Sportsman's Guide with discounts $253.00 which is hard to beat. I'm not saying I never buy Chinese.. I have a Holosun IR Laser and an Arken Long Range scope... Issues with both of those is I can't find anything that can touch their quality at the price.. but if I have a decent option that isn't made in China I'm taking it.

I've had my RT-6 for about 2 years and 2500 ish rounds. It can do everything from Bill Drill's at 7 yards to hits on B/C steel at 400 yards. Illumination is an afterthought but when the illumination died on my original version Burris replaced it with a whole new scope. The reticle is like a modified T-post and the center donut is an 8-inch bullseye at 100 yards. Glass is good enough for the money. It will stay on my rifle until I make an upgrade to a much better LPVO (like a Razor). Still a buy recommendation. They are certainly out there at $275 for a new unit.

Sad but true, I think it has a lot to do with the newer generation of us focusing more on carbine-stuff like LPVO's, Prims and red dots, and the marketing for say Primary arms and Vortex have been killing it here, where the older and more traditional scope companies like Leupold, Burris etc. while excellent quality, are lagging behind in their marketing to younger generations.

I really like my RT-6. It's the same weight as compact scopes like the Steiner P4xi and the NF NX8. It's not jaw dropping in any area but it also doesn't have any deal breaking traits for me. Very workable glass, decent FOV, good eyebox, decent reticle, and made in the phillipines which is cool. Honestly I really like the 1x optically. It has some fish eye like you point out but the center is very close to what your other eye sees. Other scopes I've owned like the Steiner P4xi and PST are flatter but the center is distinctly different from what my off eye sees so I have to focus my vision more through the scope instead looking past the scope if that make sense. Only thing is I wish the stadia that point to the reticle were bigger like you said and maybe some wind holds like the strike eagle reticles.

Great video topic. I was wondering the same thing about my RT-6 and my MTACs 1-4 that I do still love. Being honest, I like my MTAC 1-4 slightly better. Glass is a bit more clear to my eyes though the reticle is a bit slight for my liking. A comparison of the Nikon Black 1-4 would be an informative watch even though they are not made anymore. Bought one for $200 as well a few years ago along with the 5 Burris LPVOs I have. Couldn’t pass up the deals. Thanks as always. You are the GOAT of scope reviews.

Owning the gamut of Razors through Strike Eagles. I'd say the Viper PST Gen2 1-6 is the minimum before my eyes physically hurt. That alone is worth the +200 for me. Mainly image fuzziness, black ring/exit pupil stability, and depth of field/focus. It depends on use case, and users' eyeball. And budget. But I'd recommend a floor of the Viper PST Gen II at around 450-500 street.

The BURRIS RT6 is, as you well demonstrated, a great buy in an LPVO. BUT... I want to see the new ELIMINATOR 6 in a 1 - 8x LPVO as a top end option for 7.62 x 51 and 6.8 X 51 battle rifles. A 35 mm tube (necessary space for all the sensors and laser rangefinder inside) would mean a 34 mm objective lens which would be good for low light situations. -> Yes this LPVO would be heavy but it would be 98% of the VORTEX M157 sight system the US Army has sitting on the new M7 battle rifle, and that system is heavy too. A fast and accurate firing solution is pricey but well worth it and hey, you can't buy the M157 at any price, plus it's clunky with that "brain box" sitting on top.

The 1x fisheye on the RT6 is the main reason I switched to a trijicon TR24. Will you check out swampfox's new tomahawk gen 2 1-4x eventually? Swampfox advertized it as the best 1x performance they could engineer while being at a budget price, and it seems like they're checking the boxes by keeping the maximum magnification to 4, and second focal plane.

I’m really happy with my RT6. I wish it had a little bit flatter one X. When I bought it, the nova didn’t exist and they were on the strike eagle GEN one. So I thought it was. An easy choice because I didn’t want to pay for a PST. I don’t really care about red dot bright reticles. I rarely ever have the illumination on. I’m definitely the guy that forgets to turn off his illumination. So I don’t think I would buy a fiber wire anyways. The fact that it comes with amount I think still makes it relevant. But from what I’ve seen, I’d probably buy the new venom. Or maybe even one of the novas without the fiber wire assuming that they are just as good just different reticle.

I was about to pick the RT6 a year ago, the glass clarity for me was superior than Strike Eagle, however, the reticle is clearly outdated from what we want to have. did you ever get to look through another NOVA to see if the off center image stability was better/didn't exist? I had the SLX version and now own a special purchase (SP) NOVA made in the Philippines with GLX features and the image is rock solid stable (IMHO) between 2-5x. I never noticed any issues on my SLX version either. I then checked my special purchase Aurora 1-6 SFP and the middle magnification ranges appear rock solid stable too. I'm not a patreon but a dedicated viewer :) and would be more than willing to send you the SP NOVA for review if you wanted to check it out. Best, Jim

FYI I had a Riton Tactix X7 Model 1-8 LPVO I bought from Bereli ...Great Deal ...It was supposed to be their flagship scope, listed for like $1100 and they were selling for $399 ... I have had a lot of scopes and I can honestly say this was THE worst one... It was a boat anchor, eye box was terrible, all you could do to turn the power ring and the illumination didn't work on the two highest settings. At that time Bereli seemed to be their major outlet and they don't even carry them anymore if that tells you anything.
