I love my Gen II in .300blk. It is a great general purpose rifle. I ended up putting a PA SLx 1-6 7.62x39/.300blk Raptor reticle on it, and have been able to get consistent hits out to 300-400 yards (wind notwithstanding). Something I also really want to touch on, though, is how valuable a "legal" rifle is. I live in Vermont, but my entire family is from the Finger Lakes area of New York. For those times when I go home to hunt, help around house, etc., I'll usually toss this rifle in my truck. It's great having a short, handy, rifle that accepts stanag mags, and won't get me slapped with a felony.

@@krm944 I was surprised how good a match the Mini 30 mags were for the squat little bolt gun. the gen 2 bolt handle is threaded so you can just swap it out with a larger one no mods required the gen 2 trigger will fit in the gen 1 but is not compatible with the gen 1 bolt because there is a small cut in the back of the bolt where the extra safety moves around it you can see the cut if you look at the black plastic cap on the underside of the bolt

It’s almost like Ruger has a crap molding process. I’ll probably get a lightweight chassis for them and go with the Sig folding Stock. I’m not a fan of the AR buffer tube and collapsing butt stock (it’s just awkward looking). Not a fan of the AR mag…doesn’t always cycle correctly. Other than those minor issues, I like mine.

The spiral fluting has no place on a “ranch” rifle imo. To me a ranch rifle is a gun that can live in a quad, in the back of a pickup, or even in a wheelbarrow on a farm. The fluting is an extra place for dust, dirt and mud to get in. Now you have to get in every groove individually.
@lllilililililililililllАй бұрын
not hard to brush it off
@ZildjianMan30Ай бұрын
Wow. This was an absurd post. You do know the barrel is finished in Cerakote? Do you know what Cerakote does? Fluting can be put on any length barrel. Fluting increases the surface area of the barrel so that more heat dissipates at a more rapid rate. Spiral Fluting further increases this benefit due to the fact that the shortest distance between two points is not a spiral. Spiral fluting creates more surface area compared to straight line fluting. Thus, spiral fluting maximizes barrel cooling. I rest my case.

Wow you told me. 🥱

Your case sucks and does not address the point. As a person who spends a lot of time around the corrals, he's exactly correct. I blow my Mini 14 off with compressed air every morning, clean it once a month or so. It cycles all the cheap Russian ammo you want. The AR platform sucks in my World, too.
