CDT 2022: Day 23

Welcome to my 2022 NOBO leg of the Continental Divide Trail!!

That sunrise was beautiful, bet the camera didn't do it justice. But appreciate the update. Watching someone experiencing these thru-hikes, albeit probably up to 14 days behind (the stalkers are out there) is in my mind more exciting than watching one from two years ago. For me that is. It is like a delayed window into the life, which I really enjoy. Kudos to you for just diving into food in full hiker trash mode, way to go. So glad that Josh and family are well. I know you have inreach where you can text Josh but having a signal and comfort is great too. Looking forward to the next section. Glad that room was better. The other was disgusting and needs reporting really.

I stayed in that motel before. They were pretty nice. Their sign has awesome neon at night. I had just camped in Chaco Canyon the night before and nearly froze, so the motel stay was welcome after a second full day of exploring Ancestral Puebloan ruins.

I was in Cuba last year on a road trip to visit the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Study Area near there. Stayed at the same hotel and maybe the same room and went to eat at the same diner (Presciliano's). Nice place to stay. I had breakfast at Presciliano's the next morning and thought I'd give the famous New Mexico green chili a try on my omelet. I'm from southern Arizona where we prefer our sauces the Sonoran style, that is with red chilis. The green sauce was good, but I'm sticking with the red. Beautiful area there in New Mexico. Thanks for the video.

Seems to be more road walking on this trail than any other trail. Could be a bit dangerous. Glad you were able to get a nice place to rest in. Stay safe.
