Hi guys! This is so awesome. I almost can't believe that this is natural. I usually worry about grip and footing, because of moss and algae, when walking on rocks like those. But it didn't seem to be a problem for you. Would love to visit this place during the summertime. Amazing video! Thanks! 😀😀

No moss or algae can grow or hold roots on a rock surface where vigorous streams of water flow every second. Mosses or algae only grow on still waters.

If you happen to tour Dalaguete and Alcoy towns in the southeastern side of Cebu, don't miss the Obong Spring and the ruins of the Spanish-era watch tower (Bantayan sa Hari) next to it as well as the centuries-old church of San Guillermo Church (St. William de Aquitania) as what locals call it in Dalaguete town proper. In Alcoy, don't miss the Tingko Beach, its old church and the dolomite mine site in Pugalo. There are lots of accommodations to choose in those two towns.

We have been exploring some waterfalls in Cebu for the last 3 weeks. They are amazing! We arrived in Moalboal in march last year the next day, they shut down all the falls due to covid... We have been dreaming about Cebu's waterfalls for many years so we decided to stay during the pandemic in hopes that the falls would eventually open. It was worth waiting. I visited mantayupan, kawasan, badian and alegria canioneering, cancalanog, aguinid, and cambais. Unfortunately, there are still many falls that are only open for locals, not tourists. It's a shame because the market is still overcrowded on Sundays as usual. So, it doesn't make much sense. They could at least limit the number is people in a given period. there are very few tourists around anyway.

I'm a local living in Lapu-Lapu City. We had our 3D/2N weekend getaway last February 25 to 27 to Alegria and Badian. Our original goal was waterfalls hopping in Alegria and other nearby towns. We brought our own car to cover as many waterfalls as we can but to our disappointment, most waterfalls that we planned to visit in Alegria were all close to tourists such as the Cambais, Montpelier and Cangcalanog Falls. Although we're able to enjoy the first level and other parts of Cambais because the levels 2 and 3 were off limits to tourists. Over in Badian, Kawasan Falls was also close to walk-in tourists except when you join a canyoneering tour. Luckily for me, canyoneering was part of my itinerary and I booked the Badian canyoneering tour which allowed me to enjoy Kawasan Falls. The only waterfalls that we're able to visit that is open to all tourists was Mantayupan Falls in Barili.

@viajandosemlimites5678 3 жыл бұрын
@@lionhearted1969 they recently opened cambais and Montpellier but you need to book online just like the canioneering. It's 500 pesos and we'll worth it. As far as I know, cancalanog is still closed, but we managed to go before closure in the new years eve.

@@viajandosemlimites5678 Haha we actually already explored Camotes and made a whole guide for it, but we are actually talking seriously about returning VERY soon to see what we missed and redo the things we did.

@@viajandosemlimites5678 I see. I wish I would have known that before we went to all those waterfalls. Thanks for the added info. But it would be very cumbersome if you wear a helmet and life vest if you only want to swim in the waterfalls. But I guess that's ok because the package already includes a visit to three major waterfalls with a guide, welcome drinks/snacks, life vest, user's fee and entrance fee. So you have to pay separately your transportation fee?

Just like Kawasan Falls, the Municipality of Alegria in the early 2000's claimed that the falls belong to them. I think they even go to the Governor's office of former Governor Pablo Garcia at the Provincial Capitol to make that claim but the Municipality of Badian strongly believed that the falls is in their jurisdiction. So, that claimed went nothing because the former Governor believes that the falls is belong to Badian. Geographically, the Osmena Peak is belong to the Municipality of Badian not in the Municipality of Dalaguete. But most people think that the peak is in Dalaguete because it is easy to get there than in Badian.
@lionhearted1969
@lionhearted1969 3 жыл бұрын
Are you sure? I don't think both Alegria and Badian had ever a fight as to where Kawasan Falls belong to. You might have picked up the wrong news about the Badian and Alegria tussle. In mid 2000s both Alegria and Badian had a public tussle not about Kawasan Falls but about canyoneering revenue. It was Badian who protested on Alegria town's 'illegal' collection of revenue out from canyoneering activities from tour operators based in Alegria but their canyoneering activities always ended up in Kawasan Falls which belonged to Badian. To solve the problem, all tour operators based in Alegria can no longer use the route that includes Kawasan Falls. Thus, all canyoneering operators based in Alegria are now prohibited from using any part of the river system that lies within the jurisdiction of Badian. So if you book the Alegria canyoneering tour, you would now start in Cangcalanog River (Falls) and end up in Kanlaob River, still located in Alegria. The river systems that comprise Cangcalanog River and Kanlaob River actually flows down to Kabukalan Spring (Badian) that feeds Kawasan Falls, seemingly making it a single river system. Participants in Badian canyoneering tour, meanwhile start in the part of the Cangcalanog-Kanlaob river system but lies within the bounds of Badian.

@@kingrafa3938 I never heard of a fight between Alegria and Badian over the jurisdiction of Kawasan Falls. My first visit to Kawasan Falls was in 1993 due to the invite of my coworker who is from Badian and her family house was right next to the trail to the falls, the house near the second foot bridge. It's impossible for Alegria to claim rights to Kawasan Falls because the Kabukalan Spring that feeds Matutinao River and Kawasan Falls themselves lie entirely within the safe bounds of Badian. It doesn't lie in or near the border.
