Very refreshing clarity. I felt the same when I discovered Noa Ronkin's book 'Early Buddhist Metaphysics'. Thankyou for your excellent presentation

Madam you said "Theravada is known to strictly adhere the original teaching of Buddha". Mahayana and Bajrayana is also the original teaching of Buddha. I think it will be correct to say "Theravada is known to strictly adhere the 'early teachings of Buddha' instead of the 'original teachings' of the Buddha". Theravadins only followed the teachings of 'The first turning of the wheel' and completely ignored the teachings of 'the second and third turning of the wheel'.

None of them are the original teachings of the Buddha. He did not teach the theravada abbhidhamma or the mahayana sutras. The sauntrantika are the only school that kept the original teachings of the Buddha and rejected stuff people said later on.

Very interesting lecture! So for Sarvastivada Buddhism, is samsara living within the samskrta/impermanent dharmas while nirvana is living within the asamskrta/permanent dharmas?
