Congratulations on your success!! I will be having the procedure in about 2 months. I am very excited to be free of chronic pancreatitis! I am nervous about the whole operation however. It's reassuring to see how happy you are now! Any advice and tips that you could share with me I would appreciate it very much!

Thank you for sharing, Cecilia, you have given us an excellent idea of what people who've had pancreatitis and/or diabetes actually go through on a day to day basis and I am blown away. You are an incredibly strong woman and I applaud your strength and persistence. I'm a nursing student and have only seen one of the insulin pumps in practice so far but it seems like they are really helping people to regain independence, and hopefully the technology just keeps getting better and better as the days go by. You drew up that insulin like a pro, I aspire to be half that good at insulin shots by the time I graduate! I really appreciate you sharing your day with us so honestly and courageously. I wish you the best of success on your journey, Cecilia, you are immensely inspiring. Sincerely with love, from Texas

Where did you have this done at? If you don’t mind me asking… I am a type 1 diabetic and I spend 98% of my life in a bed due to kidney and pancreas failure. I am trying to go through transplant process but it is taking me forever I mean FOREVER. I am doing everything that they ask of me & I just want to know what it’s like to feel normal for once and not be sick. If you could please help me, I’d greatly appreciate it

Did your doctor write the RX for nasal glucagon? I am definitely going to look into this. Thanks for sharing! I actually have hereditary chronic pancreatitis and dx at age of 4 and I am 40 now. I am not a candidate for islet cell transplant. I ended up with pancreatic cancer from my chronic pancreatitis and 14 years cancer free and type 3 diabetic from my Whipple operation.

Congratulations! I am happy you are doing well! Please help me... I have to have this surgery done soon. I have had pancreatitis since i was 7 years old, over 20 years now I am 30 now.... How was the surgery? I am so TERRIFIED of doing the surgery I have put it off for 4 years, and now it can't wait much longer. Please anyone who has done it can you please please talk to me about it. I am so scared of not waking up after they put me under. I know its kind of irrational since otherwise I am in good health. I finished grad school, been able to work out, etc.... nowmy hospitalizations have increased, and I cant hold a job. I cant go meet my girlfriends family so I can ask their permission to marry her... (they live in another country... and im worried about being hospitalized...). I know I need this surgery now but im having daily panic attacks at the thought because I am afraid of not waking up. Please help....

Hi Josh - Apologies for the late reply. We would suggest emailing us at info@pancreasfoundation.org if you want to be connected to a recent TPIAT patient (we have young advocates who are happy to talk to others). Also, we recently uploaded a third video in the series with the U of MN and four post-TPIAT patients. They talked about the emotional, physical, and mental struggles with TPIAT and we think that would be helpful for you.
