She was recording in a studio when she was six. Her band called he “the boss.” She literally made notes for the engineer. There is a video of her singing into a hand held mic in her bed at 18 months. The first two girls are her cousins. Angelina’s uncle is her manager. The tallest girl is her younger sister, Juliette. Juliette can be seen dancing in some of her early videos. Her grandmother is an international visual artist. Angelina has sung globally for years. Her family has always traveled with her. She attended a Waldorf school when she was home in Oslo, the best school for integrated education and holistic child development.

Tiny Little Girl Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice will be 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve.

ANGELINA JORDAN Born and raised in Oslo, Norway; this world-renowned singer has earned fantastic reviews for the amazing breadth, depth and maturity of her vocal talent that simply belies her young age. Angelina’s videos have received over 1 billion views on KZbin and almost 2,5 billion views on Facebook. Amazingly, her passion for music began at just one-and- a-half years of age when Angelina first saw Whitney Houston on KZbin performing I Will Always Love You. Whitney - and later Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington - became her first major musical influences. At the age of seven, Angelina auditioned for Norway’s Got Talent performing Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She won the competition with the show drawing record TV audiences. Not surprisingly, throughout her rising career, Angelina has featured in prominent media outlets including TIME, CNN, BBC, and People while also performing on the U.S. network TV shows Little Big Shots and The View. In 2016, Avicii chose Angelina for the vocals on his worldwide Volvo commercial campaign, a brilliant cover of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good. As well as singing before Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, charitable causes to which Angelina has given her talent include the Rainforest Alliance at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and Ein Herz für Kinder in Berlin where she helped raise over 21 Million Euros for children and families in need. This multi-talented singing prodigy has also written a successful, illustrated children’s book in her native Norway making Angelina the youngest published author in the country’s history. Based on the true story of when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public. 4:04

Released June 22, 2022❗️It surpassed over 3M views in just a few months! Angelina starts off with the bridge, completely different than anyone else; and then, begins with the opening line of the song. Her Bee hive hairdo is an homage to Priscilla…Many photographs of her hair, exactly like that. And a Leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is the Elvis‘s 1968 “Comeback” Guitar! Rob Christe actually owns this. The two young children are her cousins, her Uncle Michael’s children, the older girl is her sister Juliette. She even had a framed photo of Elvis, at this location. Rob Christie on piano ok.🌸 “Suspicious Minds” kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI

Among the many legends circulating about Angelina is the one about Rob Christie (Angelina's tutor on behalf of RR and one of the most important American musicians, winner of 2 or 3 Grammys), who in an interview when asked about Angelina's pupil answered: "to tell the truth, she is the teacher". And she wouldn't be new, as the musicians who accompanied her in the epic "I Put A Spell on Yuo" nicknamed her at 9 years old "The Boss".

Nice reaction! Being 67 and growing up during Elvis famous time (a true hype) it is stunning to watch Angelina paying so much respect to him! All the little details (boots, leather suit, red guitar, Priscilla's beehive hairdo aso), but she even looks a little bit like him in her face. In fact if you look to a couple of pictures from Elvis and Priscilla she could be a daughter if she wasn't so young!!! I watched this rendition of Angelina many times before I saw the movie Elvis and it made the movie more pleasant and the movie made me appreciate Angelina even more. I think it's no coincedence that she met Austin Butler (who played Elvis fantastically) and Priscilla a couple of months later. I hope that not only older people like me realize what an insane artist Angelina is. So much more than just a good singer!

A very nice reaction! Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and homage to The King!

The piano player is Rob Christie, a classically trained pianist, director all Republic Records studios in LA and music historian. He has taken AJ under his wing as a mentor (though he credits her as someone he learns from everyday) and her primary accompanist. He has collaborated on archiving the libraries of some major musical legends and has introduced her to musicians who have accompanied performers like Sinatra, Etta James and Michael Jackson. Not she could found a better nest in which to learn to fly than where she is.

The beehive hair style is a tip of the hat to Pricilla Prestly. The black leather and red hollow body as well as Rob Christy's red jump suit are visual clues to Elvis' comeback tour of 1969. Such painstaking detail from such a young artist.

@@rburkett1939 You may very well be right in that it may well be the first full on be hive, but I think it’s more likely that her hair is the way it is as she is now under the influence of a money machine who want her to look more grown up and more commercially attractive. She has had her hair up and back-combed many times before this, in homemade jobs but now probably professional hair stylists are at work. Listen to her singing, it has been smoothed, cleaned up, homogenised. It is no longer her in control, she is being commercialised. Her sound and her appearance is being modified.

Wow, what a great breakdown and analysis of this incredible performance. One of the best reactions and analysis of Angelina's performance that I have ever seen. Thank you so much. Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Si ster Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOUTube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻 Jeffery Richards Tells us this is: The Melrose Gallery is on Melrose Blvd. in west Hollywood, a suburb of LA.

Rob Christie Playing Piano: That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.

I look at those chandeliers, the numbers of cut glass, how they come together to reflect shining light, colors that change from every angle, the warm glow... That's Angelina, her beautiful voice and the combination of her vocal mastery... She is a work of art. Her music is founded on her character, her heart...in one of the lyrics in her original song titled "7th Heaven" she writes "I see myself in the mirror, I want to love the person looking back at me".., she's seriously dedicated to continually hone that incredible talent she's been gifted.. and we see her, and we love what we see. I interpret the esthetics(?) as a way to honour Elvis. Her outfit to Elvis, some of her singingstyle in this song to Elvis, the hairstyle to Pricilla etc I might be wrong but I often find she has some small mean of giving thanks to those before her on the same time as she put her own spinn on it. Anyway thanks and greetings from Sweden ❤

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. The pianist Rob Christie (music studio director of Republic Records distribution of UMG, two-time Grammy winner) changed the musical arrangement and Angelina changed the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyrical structure starting with the bridge and gives the song a different meaning than Felton Jarvis and Mark James , Angelina version absolutely fits the lyric better. Once again, many people don't hear and understand the song until Angelina tells the story. 💯 *AJ* 💯👣 The producer Felton Jarvis from Elvis Presley cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original country arrangement completely from Mark James and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version).

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching. As you said, the song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

I just adore your AJ reactions. Just an FYI this video is a full Elvis homage to his 1968 Christmas comeback special on NBC I believe. The hair rep Priscilla's beehive that she had at the time and the black leather suit Elvis was wearing while he played his red electric guitar. Shooting it in an antique shop was brilliant reflecting all the opulence Elvis was famous for surrounding himself with the Chandelier's and vintage furniture right down to the mic that was used was well thought out. If you can please react an review to AJs latest cover of Whitney Houston (I Have Nothing). Its shot in B/W also in the same antique shop lol. I'd love to see your take on the subtle changes AJ made to make it her own. Also think about doing a reaction of AJ earlier work like (I Put A Spell On You) by Screaming Jay Hawkins. the B/W studio version when she wad 9yrs old is spectacular and if you've ever worked with children then this little child prodigy and her rendition & solo arrangement would make a great case study of jazz techniques that are abnormal in adolescents. This version is a homage to Screaming Jay not to Nina Simon. Thanks and Hope I hear form you. Cheers!

I’m so glad you researched the history of Suspicious Minds as I’ve listened to this song dozens of times with dozens of reactors and your the first reactor who has mentioned the original was by Mark James , Absolutely stunning performance from Angelina, the first two girls in the video are Angelina’s managers children, the eldest girl is Angelina’s sister Juliette, production input from Angelina’s Grandma who is a talented Iranian artist, pianist is Rob Christie award winning musical director of Republic Records the label Angelina signed with at the age of 14 years old, love how Angelina pays tribute to Elvis with her black outfit and red guitar 🎸 and Pricilla Presley hair style, green reaction thanks 🙏

🌿✨🎶🪅🎵Wow! I LOVE your “nerdy” approach to this song, the original artist, and to our wonderful Angelina and her rendition. I learned so much more about the song itself and understood it much more than I ever had before. THANK YOU I am new to your channel…. Liked and subscribed! Your own voice, if that is what is playing at the start and finish, is lovely. And I know that the rest of Angelina’s angels have been filling you in on this song, her cousins, etc etc! Bless them all!

New subscriber. Loved your reaction and 'nerdy' commentary. Such a tribute to Elvis. The hair style, like Priscilla Presley; the leather suit, like worn by Elvis; the red guitar, like the one used by Elvis in his 'comeback special' in 1968; and the piano player's jumpsuit like worn at one time by Elvis' bandmates. Yet, the way she flipped the original arrangement totally made it her own.

I more than liked your reaction and deep analysis of Angelina's take on this song. You are so on point with her vocals, color palette, visuals, body language and messaging. Angelina is a music genius and I love how she makes me feel when she sings. Best wishes and growth to you on your mission in the coming year.

Hi, again! Your analysis of Angelina's performance of this song was the most comprehensive I have watched by any other Reactor - and I've watched them all. Way back in 2014 I began to refer to her as "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change colour to match its surroundings, so Angelic is able to change the"colour" of her voice to match the emotions of a song. She is the only singer of whom I am aware who sings a song with the total conviction that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics of every song she chooses to sing which, if one is completely honest about it, is absurd as she hasn't done so. I note that you have reacted to Angelina at ages 10, 13 and 16 and in each of those she stamped her personality on them by not binding herself to the performances of others but to sing them as she felt they deserved to be sung. But she has one song in which she completely changed the genre and put real meaning into the lyrics. It is her arrangement of the Michael Jackson hit "Billie Jean'. In anticipation that you will consider reacting to it, here is the link: age 15 - "Billie Jean" (Michael Jackson) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqGZaJ5vrNBlg9k And, while I have the stage, I'll be completely selfish and ask you to consider reacting to one of my favourite performances of hers at age 11. It was written by Dolly Parton's and became a hit for Whitney Houston. It is an impromptu performance by Angelina, where she and her Norwegian guitarist, Egil Clausen, got together and discussed songs. Eventually they decided upon one they liked but had never performed. Angelina searched on her Tablet for the lyrics and Egil for the guitar chords. Angelina told him to "Follow me" indicated to her grandmother to start recording and away they went. Invariably, that first time performance was uploaded to KZbin without editing. Here is the link: age 11 - "I will always love you" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m57PZad_dtaKi7s

Not sure if anyone has commented, the first two are daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, brother to Sara Astar who is Angelina's mother. The third child is her cheeky sister Juliette. Have you seen the photo of Angelina and Priscilla together? I haven’t seen the details of the circumstances but it appears to be taken shortly after AJ did this video. Thank you for doing more reactions with Angelina. In my 70+ years I’ve never been impressed so much by another artist. I really enjoy many different singers, groups, bands etc. but none have gripped my attention and bring out the true meaning of a song like this young lady. Please do many more AJ reactions. Her rendition of Wicked Game done at 12 years old while playing a keyboard at home is fantastic. The fan made version is the best by far.

Angelina has had such high attention to music since an incredibly young age. Her attention went to constant playing with sound. She is unschooled formally with a multitude of mentors from past greats and since jazz has been so well populated and has stayed very much in the playful mode developing multitudes of jazz styles, Angelina has quite literally used KZbin as her greatest resource of learning materials. With no curriculum, she was somehow able to imbue her naturally deep voice with the qualities to allow it become massively skilled. Moral of this story: if your kid is online all the time and creative, support their interests! Let them learn at their own pace. Even “shallow” stuff in other’s estimation is rich with meaning. Be whole and sincere yourself, so that your support is untainted by cynicism and foul behaviors tacitly calling for the same expected of the child to emulate you. Remember that you matter! And your child will know that they matter. ❤

Great reaction and commentary on this. I believe Angelina's rendition captures the angst, fatigue, and yet hopefulness better than either Mark James' original or Elvis' (both of which were more upbeat). But the lyrics are not upbeat describing as they do a relationship that could make it but that probably won't due to mistrust. As you said, Angelina's artistic choices are really superb and help to make us, to force us, to hear the story.

Thanks for this lovely reaction and analysis! The reflection part I loved! An important theme to me was time. In general she does three things with time. The first is that it is easy to drift off when listening to her and forget about time. The second is that at times she sings some as they were saying 50-80 years ago and takes us back in time. The third, like here, is that she takes sinds from the past and brings them into the present and gives them a new shine. Specifically here she starts with uncovering beautiful pieces from the past, dresses in a time appropriate way and her little cousins and get sister give a sense of her growing up. When an artist rearranges a song so drastically, do you still consider it a cover? And, with a light-hearted intention, would you consider opera singer singing covers? Though semantically perhaps correct, it feels wrong to say Pavarotti is singing covers, right?

Taylor, I just love your reaction/analysis of Angelina's performances. You get right to the essence of her performances & the more research you do, the more I like it. Thanks so much for doing this & thank your husband for turning you on to it. My favorite of her is her most recent version (age 16) of the classic jazz standard, My Funny Valentine, filmed in this same antique shop. She sang it at 9 at a live concert, with piano & sax backing, then at 10 she sang it at home to a backing track. Both versions were phenomenal for a child & the cuteness factor is off the charts. But her recent version is a Masterclass in vocal techniques & it's by far the best version of the many versions I've heard from legendary singers of the past. It's just STUNNING!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4WqfZWpfKl0f5I

I absolutely loved your reaction from a music perspective, the way you described Angelina's tone and rhe richness of her voice and how Angelina uses this texture to emphasise the meaning of the song was gold, i however think you were a little out with the visual aspect. How i seen the visuals was all Elvis, Priscilla's hairdo, the bling, everything about the room reeked of Elvis.(i don't know if reeked is the right word but it fits) Every visual in the room, Elvis would have loved, then the clothing style and instruments were just perfect, Angelina has got everything right here to pay great tribute and respect to the King. 😊😊🌏

Great reaction! You nailed it with her using her vocal “color palette”when she is creating. She doesn’t use the same pattern from song to song like most do. This comes from the huge influence of her grandmother painter and poet Mery Zamani. Like Mery, Angie is a true artist.

The two youngest girs are the daughters of her Uncle Mike who is her manager. The older girl is her younger sister, Julietta. The piano player is two time Grammy winner, Rob Christie, who is a Studio Director for Republic Record where Angelina signed as a Priority Artist. The song is about the pain a trustworthy person feels when they are not trusted by someone they care about deeply. Angelina's ability to make you 'feel' is what sets her apart from other great singers who dazzle with vocal acrobatics. I appreciate you analysis. Thank you.

Yeah, the prodigy, he sees music differently or stand differently than Cheaper, but she did everything come down her voice, her emotions, and her voice feelings on her voice. I’ll call her a like painting, a canvas, artist canvas, paint, paint a picture, but she paints the words with her voice, and makes you feel the emotion that makes you understand the music.

These 'breathy', 'whisper-like' responses are something she adopted early on, after first hearing them done by Billie Holiday. She has stated that she wouldn't be the singer she is if not for Billie, and she also adopts the 'slurring' and mid sentence 'key' changes that Amy Winehouse was famous for.
