For some reason Sweden had alot of Rap limited edition type releases, wasnt till ebay that I was able to get these "Japanese/European releases". Marley and Co. doing there thing, then Roxanne vs. UTFO, But breakdancing is what made the artists back in the day, Herbie Hancock, Fat Boys, Run-Dmc, Ice-T, Nucleus, Kraftwerk, then flashdance, breakin, beat street, the pilot, Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson thriller, his moonwalk, Yo mtv raps just blew it the fuq up. And Luke records the Redd Fox, Richord Pryors, Eddie Murphys of the industry who along with 2short made the industry put the Parental advisory stickers stick. All this without me ever knowing criminal minded even existed. That cover blew my mind and is gangster like a mutha. Then Def Jam, rock rap reggae crossovers seeing it live on SNL, Raiders gear, Rap-alot, MOBO, N.O. and the claiming of "styles" of rap adjacent to your location. It is and still is a music that transcends, the racists who wanted to ban it, silence it, extinguish its light. But could not. Any music medium could be used to convey a message, Rock/punk/thrash is just as vile if not more if you know where to look, Rap is just the favorite tool of todays producers. songwriters. There is both demonic and Angelic sound out there. Your upbringing, friends, determine your character. This music is just as powerful now as it ever was. These interviews open eyes, ears of audiophiles and keep the game live, to me the 4 elements have always been M.C., D.J. Dancing, and the beat-box. my old man would of beat my ass If I was out trying to be a spay paint artist. So I never felt like I did anything wrong hatin on the vandals, till beat street/ youtube changed my whole outlook, thank you ultra for all the memories, and my top ten in no particular is Rakim, Kool Keith, Chuck-D, Guru, KRS-1, LL, Big Daddy Kane, Eazy-E, Ice-T, ( Skooly, Shante, Fresh Prince, or J.T.-Money)changes on my mood. luv piece and but grease and im out.

The old DBX 160s and Korg and Roland and Yamaha lexicon, Eventide hmmm some of the nicest effects and processing units ever made.

On their recording, "Mentally mad" after their verses, they can be heard saying that they don't like and don't need "reverb" and "sound effects." I agree with you when used right it's dope.

@@willx_1 I am not saying Ultra used them, just that effects were used a lot in early hip hop. Ced said "that in his era they did not use a lot of effects" maybe Ultra did not not but everyone else did. Rakim used crazy reverb on his vocal on the paid in full album.

Yes, of course Keith went bezerk further on as we know him. Ced to me still held his own regardless.
