It was a fun, well run event! I'll definitely keep my eye out for future event possibilities. Were you one of the organizers? I realized after I left that I never actually introduced myself or got anyone's name. :) -Melissa

Thanks! I need to figure out why I can manage one big fish at most tournaments, but I hardly ever fill my limit.

That one fish made it all worth it didn't it. Lol. Great vid as always. Enjoyed watching it.

The tournament was 8 hours long, and I caught that fish at the 7 hour 40 minute mark. It was a looooooong day! I think that tournament fishing is going to teach me so much about decision making in fishing. Like, I spent at least 1/4 of my time paddling around. And then I spent an hour trying to fish like Scott using an weightless Senko, and I was totally miserable. It took my until about the 7 hour mark to say screw it, and decide to go fish the way I like to fish, and that is when I finally caught a good fish. When I fish for fun, I don't worry too much about catching fish, I do what is most enjoyable for me. I thought that had to change in a tournament... that you had to fish a different way, the "right" way... but that just made me not enjoy myself. So at the next one, I am going to try to go by my gut and do what feels right and see how that turns out.

@@GirlGoneFishing That's the way I think you should. Right or wrong do it the way you enjoy. That way win or lose you have fun. Even if you ever decide to go pro, which your capable of, you still enjoy what you do. Still great content on your vid as well.

My bad BKBF is not replacing the ky yak series, it replaced a different series. The ky yak series is the other series Im going to fish a few events in, but not all of them. Probably cedar creek lake and Cumberland is what I will fish in the KY Yak series 2020.

Sweet vid. Im from Louisville. You guys doing any of the BKBF in 2020? Im doing the whole series, it’ll be my first ever kayak tourney series. I have an old town topwater 120 pdl, i been fishing on it all summer so im pumped to start tourneys. I’ve done boat tournaments on several KY lakes. I should do well on nolin-- i know that lake like back of my hand. Should do well on rough river too. Ive never fished cedar creek, Ive heard great things. Should be right up my alley, I love punching and flipping heavy cover. but im gonna practice on it a bunch early prespawn, cuz theres 3 yak tourneys I want to fish on cedar creek this year. Im going to fish this Bluegrass Kayak Bass Fishing league to get experience and a regular KBF here and there. Hopefully in a couple years I can move up to KBF Southeast regional circuit. If you guys fish any of these events this year, hopefully I’ll see you there.

I live in Cincinnati, so the farthest south I have gotten for kayak tournaments so far is Cedar Creek. You are lucky to have so many kayak tournament trail options in Kentucky! My first ever kayak tournament was with the Bluegrass Kayak Anglers on Cedar Creek. I had spent a year or so following the different groups on facebook, trying to get my nerve up to show up at an event, and the BKA was so obviously such a great group I finally took the leap...but unfortunately one event later, the guy in charge of that group got hired away to run the Hobie national kayak tour, so the group folded. In Ohio we have the BKFT (Buckeye Kayak Fishing Trail), which is really well-run and hosts great events all over Ohio, and CKF (Cincinnati Kayak Fishing), which hosts fun events more in the southern part of Ohio. Strictly Sail and Kayak, here in Cincinnati, sponsors a lot of these events, and host post-tournament cook outs at their place with lots of cool give-a-ways and food. Good luck in your kayak adventures and say hi if we are ever at the same event! :) -Melissa
