Today we are adding yet another episode to the now 8-part series reviewing Cedar Ridge Whiskeys.

This episode reviews the Amontillado Sherry Finished Bourbon and QuentEssential Untitled Armagnac Cask Finished Whiskey. These are limited Release. The Bourbon seems to be widely available, but the QuentEssential Armagnac Finished may be harder to find. I only found it in a local Hy-Vee, and I haven’t found any information on any web searches.
The Amontillado Sherry Finished Bourbon is a limited release of their original Bourbon, first aged in new American Oak, then finished in a first-fill Amontillado Sherry Butt from Jerez, Spain.
It is bottled at 57.5%, 115 proof.
Taste and review
On the Nose: Oatmeal, Caramel, Chocolate covered Cherries or other more tart raspberries, Mild Sherry
On the Palate: Corn taste is first, then a Very noticeable Cherry or Raspberry taste, some caramel, with a sherry finish
Finish: a mid-length finish, Minimal back burn that is hardly noticeable. Slowly fading taste on the back end
The QuentEssential Armagnac Finished was not listed on their website, but if similar to other Single Cask Series released, it is likely started with their 100% malted barley, first aged in Cedar Ridge ex-bourbon barrels and finished in an Armagnac Cask which is an oak barrel used to age Armagnac Brandy.
The final product is 58.55%, 117.1 Proof.
Taste and review
On the Nose: Stone fruit like a peach, Mild spice. Slight grassy note, Mild peat, Barley, Smokey, a little funky, Caramel.
On the Palate: Some tobacco taste. Smokey peach or pear, slight grape peal or seed.
Finish: a long finish, a little back burn at the end but otherwise smooth and enjoyable
So those are the latest Cedar Ridge Whiskeys I’ve picked up. Both are enjoyable and worth grabbing if you run across them. Cedar Ridge has become popular and is beginning to become available throughout the country.
I hope you are able to find these Special Release Whiskeys and enjoy them as much as I do. The Amontillado Sherry Finished Bourbon was available on their website when I looked. The QuentEssential Armagnac Cask Finished Whiskey may be harder to find, but if you find it, I recommend purchasing it.
