Mike Silva was amazing. So few people get involved. He served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He was a police officer. After this incident, some Karen complained about Silva's actions, saying he put people's lives in danger. The FAA cleared him, saying he didn't violate any rules.

The made for TV movie of this incident was far less dramatic than the footage seen in this episode. When the helicopter stopped the truck, it was filmed in an exterior wide shot instead of from inside the helicopter, looking out, as seen in this segment. Filming the stop this way put a damper on the intensity of what happened. Also, in the movie, Detective Wallis wasn't able to undo his seat belt and exit the car until the suspect was right on him. In reality Detective Wallis was already out of his vehicle when he was run over.

I remember when this episode aired. Our family couldn't watch it because my younger sister fell in our pool at a year and a half. We had a gate and a fence but somebody forgot to latch the gate . After more than 10 minutes, they found my sister in our pool. She was clinically dead. They even canceled life flight. They brought her back in the ambulance and she had to be placed into a coma and she was also posturing. So much to the point that they actually had to cut some ligaments in her legs. They said that she would only startled to light or sound but that she wouldn't be able to laugh and comprehend and show emotion. She has severe cerebral palsy due to the accident . It's so easy to miss locking up a gate, especially when so much family is around. We had a huge family gathering that day. They said that she would not live past the age of five. She is going to celebrate her 38th birthday this year.

@Cedar1956 Did you happen to record the full episode for Season 2, Episode 8 (11/13/1990)? It contained the segments Daytona, 911 Smart Boy, and Digitalis Kid OD. I am curious to know if it also contained a segment about an Oregon dad trying to save his infant son from a house fire. I have the summer repeat of that episode, but the repeat version contains a reused fire segment from season 1 instead of the Oregon fire segment from the original broadcast.
