Thanks for your comment. Yes, cedar is useful, durable, fragrant, and beautiful--a perfect choice for the Temple. Acacia wood, similarily, was perfect for the Ark of the Covenant.

Today's first reading from taken from the second Book of Samuel, chapter 5 verses 1-5, 8-12, 14 & 16. The homilist of course talked about the Cedar of Lebanon, which King David used to build his palace. So, I thought I should look it up to see how this great tree, with a lovely fragrance looks. Thanks for sharing and I'd definitely check your other videos to see the plants and trees mentioned in the Bible.

First thank you for this video. Very nice. However you have mentioned the king of Tyre (a city in Lebanon where high quality cedar grew) that is incorrect. Tyre is on the seaside (I live there) and the cedar trees are on top of the mountains of Lebanon. Hiram sent his workers to the mountain tops to cut down the cedar trees for the temple...

Amos 2:9 says that the Amorites were as tall as Cedar trees. When we see the 12 spies encounter the Amorites, they described themselves as being like grasshoppers in the sight of these giants. This is not hyperbole. The Bible is stating a fact.
