Which of these decks was your favorite? What Japanese tech are you looking to add to your list? Let me know down below!

I added a comment earlier..but I don’t think it went through. But I’m interested in adding some tech from the Yeva player I was going against in round 6. He had three gae cradle like effects on board and attempted to win at instant speed on my final turn. Really fun opponent in the end. But if you’re ever interested in talking about the God of commander tournaments here, let me know! I’ll be playing in God of commander 8 tournament as well.

10th R&T player is me. Thanks for introducing JAPANESE CEDH list! Every Japanese are Ninja you know, So We always cast Cabal Therapy and resolve called MANA CRYPT. Just kidding. In Japan, everyone depend to The one ring. Remora,Rhystic,and Mastermind too. Hand destruction is only one solution for BR TurboNaus defeating The One ring and Blue Nard. Karn too. And WoF isn't casted as much as the American metagame.So Our pile has many lands.

I love showing off the Japanese deck lists! The hand disruption makes a lot of sense. It's so hard to deal with the number of cards these decks can draw right now. Very big fan of your list, and thank you for reaching out about what your meta looks like!

One thing you have to consider rules of this tournament, 60mins for each round, no draw points means if go to draw, everybody lose the point. That's why everybody builid a deck faster one.

In japan, EDH is mainly approached as any other format, with a very competitive mindset. There is almost not politics and in my experience at least one combo in every deck. I think that the base is a lot higher than in other countries. Its really hard to get a real casual game here.

Tiny rules quirk for you - you can't put stickers on permanents you don't OWN. So even if you have a sticker deck, you can't sticker someone else's Goblin if you cast it w MemeBet or bring it back with reanimate, and you get no mana. You can sticker a COPY of the goblin though, since you own the copy, so running a sticker deck is still technically optimal.
@zchadowhd6 ай бұрын
You can only place stickers on permanents you own?

@@zchadowhd correct. 123.3b A player can’t put a sticker on an object that they don’t own. If an effect would cause them to do so, that part of the effect does nothing.

The Japanese meta is simply very focused on broken cards like TOR, Bowmasters, and Dockside. Breach exists and they play hate for it, but those three are the focus of the meta. As a result, 99% of successful decks run meaningful ways of interacting with them and bouncing off them. Additionally, they really value the ability to take relevant game actions late into the game and keep drawing cards, which is why synergy pieces are so big in Japan, in addition to powerhouses like Braids and Ghostly Pilferer. Things that can attack honest gameplans like Languish and Damn are also very powerful if the deck can afford it, plus card advantage engines that operate on another axis like Azusa so that decks can still progress their gameplan through intensely staxed boards or through high volumes of interaction. In the USA, our turbo decks tend to play the bare minimum when it comes to card advantage engines and don't lean into synergy as much, meaning they're more easily shut down by traditional hate pieces.

I really dislike the automatic final table seat for the prior winner. I could get on board with a bye for the Swiss but to go straight to the final is absurd.
@LemorasCards6 ай бұрын
it's definitely a wildly different approach to what we have. It's one of those things that to me seems fine enough if the series is small, but the bigger it gets the more absurd it starts to seem. Can definitely make it feel like a lot of the games don't matter.

I'm really curious about staff of compleation. I guess if you are on one ring and Tevesh then proliferate, it might not be the worst thing to do. It is versatile with card draw or mana production on 1 card. The best i can think of is that it's doing something every turn, even if it isn't at the preferred rate. But i'd love to see it in play so we can see how it performs.

Hard to argue against Kinnan. Can go faster than those meta decks, is usually very resilient in bogged down weird staxy games that fringe decks cause. If you're playing against actual casual lists that are okay to play against cedh players, the downside of kinnan is that there will be more boardwipes than usual.
