Referring to Grixis as Wet Rakdos is so wildly appropriate! I am forever referring to Grixis… I mean Wet Rakdos as that name moving forward

It's only wet Rakdos if it's primarily a Rakdos strategy with a splash of blue.

@@RascalAddams Yeah, typically, Grixis is on the control side of things. Unless it's artifact durdling - then it's murky Izzet.

While Kraum is always good for the value, I wonder if Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker would work with Francisco. Esper has a decent amount of artifact synergies that'd make finding Agatha's Soul Cauldron even easier. Cards like Enlightened Tutor and Oswald Fiddlebender alone are good enough to consider making the shift, considering how important the Cauldron is, plus that color's protection and recursion effects would make it less fragile in cases where key pieces like the Cauldron get countered or otherwise handled.

I love watching these videos because I feel like i can learn a lot from them. Recently, I have found myself questioning the usefulness of board wipes especially when they aren't one sided and I think Aaron's blast act is a good example of this. Aaron's blast act removed magistrate and death rite which gave Alex the ability to combo of with his mander. Now obviously cEDH is competitive and I do not fault Aaron for saving his skin, because without it he would have died, but in doing so he paved the way for Alex to get the win. Obviously, I have the gift of hindsight so my analysis is bias, chances everyone at the table felt as though they could deal with Alex, which resulted in the game actions they took, but clearly that was not the case. I don't want to call the blast act a misplay, but my brain is just having a really hard time wrapping my head around if the card like that is even good. I would love to get other people's thoughts and feedback regarding this to help me escape the echo chamber that is my brain.
@xxxzeroxxx840611 ай бұрын
To me it boils down to a lose-lose situation, essentially. Blasphemous is such a cheap spell 90% of the time that it feels like a solid include if your deck wants a creature wipe. Having said that, given what the deck wants to do with Dargo looping, killing Dargo doesnt really mean much if it paves the way for a victory on the same turn, as most decks tends to run a lot of hatebears nowadays that severely hinders stormy strategies. Was it a bad play? Not really. I dont think it was needed if it wasnt for the abysmal life total after "greeding" with the pain lands every turn. It was absolutely the right thing to do given Seedborn but its what happens when you dont draw into the things you need to win from it.

Fun police here: you cannot "just pay 4", as you cannot pay a nonexistent cost. You can, however, add 4 mana to your mana pool and not use it for anything, allowing it to leave your mana pool as you move between steps and/or phases.

What if Aaron isn't killed last and to be pity kills himself with lands on target to not let francisco get his counter back tho

It's generally considered BM to do something like that. It's definitely a Rule 0 thing, and if you scoop it's feasible that the rest of the pod just gives the trigger anyway.

SPOILERS Random thought, and correct me if I'm wrong - But if in response to Francesco pinging Aaron on the last round, could he kill himself with his lands to stop the loop? The damage would fizzle, so Francisco wouldn't Explore again? If i'm right, it would mean it would come down to sequencing, and if Alex killed Eliot, then tried to kill Aaron, and in response Aaron kills himself, Jim might still be alive if the loop was interrupted.
@danmatthiesen916011 ай бұрын
technically yes, but in cEDH circles it is considered bad manners to "spite play," or do a play that actively hurts you just to screw one of the other players over
@vOid-tl3tj11 ай бұрын
Yeah, but he has no reason to do this, Aaron still loses either way, so there is no point to do that.
