Alex: Play a "Great Furnace" Eliot: It's like an "Okay Furnace" at best 😆

Fun game. So many flashy plays: Chalice, Trinisphere, Boseiju (almost), two free counterspells on Helm, great stuff.

Good catch by Aaron on the Boseiju, I definitely missed it myself. That the kind of small thing that is easy to miss in the moment.

Question could Aaron mill Jim with the last draw trigger in the stack? At least force Jim work for it? Or I am missing something about how thrasios works? Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.

@Delarissa Жыл бұрын
Notably Boseiju doesn't make you get a basic land. You get a land with a basic land type, true duals, Shocklands, Triomes are all viable for this. Of course in the mono-Red deck this didn't mean much but could've gotten a Dwarven Mine?
@adriagarciasarceda3579 Жыл бұрын
Im really sleepy, but im quite sure Aaron had the combo on board, as dargo can be played infinite times with altar and birgi, and you can mill all opponents doing this!

New to the channel--is there a video where the mentioned Tor Wauki deck is played? Or was that just gentle memeing? Tor Wauki, the Younger is an extremely sick card.

The joke is that the deck is literally only 1-drops, which is why Jim reacted with faux vitriol.
@jonathanosagie1829 Жыл бұрын
quick question could aaron not have milled jim using the altar of dementia bevor the last trigger of thrasios resolves since jim chose to keep less cards in his library than aaron had power on the board making jim loose the game since he didnt reveal a land of of thrasios forcing a draw while no cards are in his library?
@mn6334 Жыл бұрын
On one hand, yes absolutely. On the other hand they probably both just forgot it was there when Jim was shortcutting and if it had been remembered Jim surely would have just shortcut activating Thrasios fewer times to leave a good number of cards in his deck. This isn't the most cutthroat situation and I'm guessing the others would have allowed him to change his shortcut once reminded of the on board interaction.
@TheGrifcannon22 Жыл бұрын
It also wouldn't matter since you have to draw from an empty library to lose the game so Jim drawing all but three and stopping there wouldn't be affected if he was milled to zero unless someone had a way to force him to draw a card.
@jonathanosagie1829 Жыл бұрын
@@TheGrifcannon22 in response to the last thrasios trigger aaron could have sacrificed his dargo milling the last cards in jims library. then the thrasios trigger would resolve forcing jim to draw a card since he didnt reveal a land
@egoish6762 Жыл бұрын
To be fair when he'd sac'd 10 treasures and dargo in turn he could have just looped dargo right there and then to mill the table out i believe. Dargo costs a single red and birgi makes a red when he is cast, altar just wins?
@mn6334 Жыл бұрын
@@egoish6762 iirc, the Trinisphere turned repeated Dargo castings off. Even if Dargo only costs 1 to cast Aaron still needs to pay 3 mana to cast it because of Trinisphere.

Three Hundred Million! Jim slowly morphing into Doctor Evil
@velozmachine Жыл бұрын
I'm very much a noob magic player but can you cast Chalice of the Void with just 1 mana source? it seems like the card shows two sources each paying X so even if X is 1 you still need 2 sources each paying 1 to cast it, but that would mean that you pay 2 to get 1 charge counter, pay 4 to get 2 charge counters, etc so it does seem silly but then why print the card that way? wouldn't it make more sense to just print a card that shows one mana source X instead of 2?
@TheSpikeFeeders Жыл бұрын
It was only around briefly, but the land Alex played (Crystal Vein) can either tap for 1 mana or tap and sacrifice for 2 mana. He paid 2 total mana to cast Chalice of the Void.

26:50 Why not just mill your opponents once you get Dargo + Magda + Altar in play?
@RoxyGotMoxy. Жыл бұрын
Did you mean Birgi? - The answer as he said in the postgame is that due to the Trinisphere being in play, even though Dargo 'costs R' he actually costs 3, so doesn't go infinite.

@anonymoususer53513 ай бұрын
He could change the target to Ricochet Trap itself, it is a spell on the stack as it resolves so you can legally change Pact to target it, and then the Pact would fizzle

Your games are very fun to watch. I have never played cEDH (though admittedly some of my EDH decks from the early days of the format probably would have qualified before we had labels like that) but have been interested lately. I am working on a Saffi Eriksdotter deck, people tell me she’s extremely low-mid at best, but I love the card.

Not at all, a lot of the cards Eliot drew off Ad Naus were enchantments which Zur helps to cheat out when he attacks.

@jdh10000011 ай бұрын
Ricochet Trap redirects Pact of Negation to Ricochet Trap.
@semperignotus10 ай бұрын
You can have ricochet trap redirect pact to the trap since while trap is still resolving, it is on the stack. Since trap is a legal target for a pact, it does work. It is a bit awkward, but a spell doesn't leave the stack until after it resolves, not during resolution.
