This is crazy, just yesterday LTK did the results of some knives he sent out for rockwell hardness & molecular structure, whatnot & one of the knives was a military in rex45 - it had a roc. hardness of 67 ! --- the first thing that came to me was, Pete needs to do a test on this. Thankyou very much- such a gr8 channel. Cheeers from America. Thanks Pete 👍
@CedricAda6 жыл бұрын
Frank Rice damn!! 67! How cool is that
@frankrice12535 жыл бұрын
@jcoolG19 -- yea, its crazy hard but, I dont think that tells the whole story- I thought this steel would do 750- 800 cuts.
@darichard115 жыл бұрын
@jcoolG19 Interesting that a Para 3 was under 65 and a Mllie was 67. Do you think that's intentional by Spyderco, or just variability? 2+ Rockwell points is significant.
@darichard115 жыл бұрын
@@frankrice1253 Blade geometry and edge are factors as well. It would be great to test as many steels as possible with the same blade geometry and edge. More Para 3 loaners to Pete, please!

@thaknobodi4 ай бұрын
You're the first person I've seen say that about Spyderco heat treat (other than the period of time they were dialing in S30V which is now one of my favorite steels by spyderco as long as it was produced in the last 5 years in Colorado)

@thaknobodi2 жыл бұрын
Should be the same as S30V, like how CTS, Crucible and Bohler all have copies of each others steels, and the individual heat treat and geometry determines the outcome. Who knows.

Mine started with the s110 version of the knife then i bought custom scales then i bought a s30v version because for some reason my 110v holds a edge well but has major problems suffering edge rolling while sharpening,Anyway Now i have a Flytanium inner scale a orange honey comb out scale a flytanium ball bearing cage and a lench clip,and fulling milled out liners. all hardweare is acid etched and stone washed besides screws. :)

Good jod Pete , I've been waiting for this one , those are awesome numbers . Question ; How do you adjust that sharpener to the different stone heights ? A new stone is going to be thicker or higher than a old stone and that small difference in height will throw it off a degree or two , is there an adjustment screw or do you just hope for the best ??
@CedricAda6 жыл бұрын
all the stones are the same height and stay that way - they are diamond coated, so rather than concaving or slimming, the diamonds just eventually fall away or dull and you replace the whole thing. So they probably live a shorter life but as a tradeoff we dont have to worry about adjusting
