Cedros Island Surface Iron Fishing With Toro | Day 2

And the bite continues! Day 2 at Cedros Island started off with some BIG yellowtail in the morning. As the wind picked up we had to move zones to find them again. We ended up fishing on the west side of the island where we found bird schools of Yellowtail that wanted to eat the surface iron!
The 6" Righteous and 5.5" Mighty proved unstoppable once again, even Captain Flaco was impressed, he couldn’t wait to see Toro’s reaction to them. It's amazing to see how much Yellowtail live around this island and how hungry they are, you will see this fish eat your jig in front of your feet! Cedros Island continues to impress, and we plan to return every year for more epic surface iron fishing adventures!

I’m getting old so I’m gonna let out my secret for 40 plus pound yellows. Go to the Bay of LA Memorial Day weekend. Water temperature is perfect not too cold or not too hot. I fished bait and my biggest was 48 pounds smallest was 38 pounds. Believe me you don’t want to down there in August it’s freaking hot and the yellows are deep, really deep. I fished bait a 4/0-6/0 hook on a 1 ounce sliding sinker. No I didn’t use a swivel just the sinker with 60 pounds smallest mono. You had to take your own gear to Cedric’s??? I forgot to mention the yellows were caught in an area they call the skull (big rock that looks like a skull).

How do you like that CUI compared to seekers and calstar rods. It looks whippy but I’ve seen people bounce 40lb fish on them.
