I think that's an awesome Idea!! I grew up in the Methodist church, listening for YEARS about the birth, life and death of Christ. I remember, when I was younger, I blindly followed the teachings. As I grew older, I started questioning some of the basic beliefs. When I went to the pastor, and others, with my questions, all I kept getting was, "You must have faith, our minds cannot understand the full picture". That never set well with me. That was the pat answer, whenever there was an unanswerable question, the response was "have faith". I REALLY like this interpretation of the Christmas story. I'm not saying I don't believe in God or a higher power, but there must be another explanation. This one is REALLY good. The Doctor would do wonders with this song!!

@@thegibbon100 I am actually in reality sat here laughing darkly at your statement. I also want to say before I say what I must next, that I for one, dearly wish you were correct in your assessment I really do. Unfortunately for you, and for me, and for us all, physics is a bitch, and she has nothing like a golden age planned for us as a result of what we have already done never mind what we have yet to do and I assure you God has nothing to do with it, indeed the bible makes quite clear as do most religions, that this world and your life, is your own. When you drop dead, then the higher powers get involved but until then this reality you live in will continue to obey the laws dictated by physics and personally if I were the creator of all things and gave a garden to my children I would not be pleased that they paved it with every purchase made and every hour worked under capitalism no matter how divine a given christian may think of themselves, all are guilty. "There is blood in these lands and they are bleeding, the corporations have cut the veins of our mother earth." - Pope Francis. As for what we have done? between 1750 and 1980 we unnaturally dug up and dumped 750 billion tons of Co2 into the atmosphere, then between 1980 and 2020, we doubled it again to 1.5 trillion tons, and we are on course to double it again between 2020 and 2050. As a result of that 1.5 trillion ton carbon blanket the planet now traps an additional 3 watts of solar energy per square meter that it cannot lose to space, 3 watts per square meter may not sound like much but at a planetary scale it means the earth is gaining the energy equivalent of a 15 megaton nuclear detonation, every 5 minutes. And it will be gaining the equivalent of 30 megatons worth of energy every 5 minutes, by 2050. We have destroyed the planets energy in energy out equilibrium that gave us stable climactic and ecological conditions for the last 12,000 years, the conditions will not stop worsening until a new energy in energy out equilibrium is reached, and that wont be possible until 30 to 40 years after the last gram of greenhouse gasses is emitted. We are on course for a 4oC+ world by 2100 at the latest, and that my friend, is an extinction level event for most complex life on the surface of this world. This is not the version of earth either you nor Jesus himself was born on, this version of earth has not existed for 3 million years. Like I said, physics is a bitch.

I always felt like it was a different answer to religion. Instead of it being god and Jesus, the space man in the song was an alien and he knew this child would be the one human to bring peace to us all and if it didn’t work he would come back in two thousand years to try again. And the only way humans being primitive at the time could reconcile what had happened was to say it was god they had no other explanation.

A spaceman came traveling on his ship from afar 'Twas light years of time since his mission did start And over a village, he halted his craft And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star He followed a light and came down to a shed Where a mother and child were lying there on a bed A bright light of silver shone round his head And he had the face of an angel and they were afraid Then the stranger spoke, he said, do not fear I come from a planet a long way from here And I bring a message for mankind to hear And suddenly the sweetest music filled the air And it went la la la la la la la la la La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la Peace and goodwill to all men and love for the child La la la la la la la la la, la la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la, oh This lovely music went trembling through the ground And many were awakened on hearing that sound And travelers on the road The village they found by the light of that ship in the sky Which shone all around And just before dawn at the paling of the sky The stranger returned and said, now I must fly When two thousand years of your time has gone by This song will begin once again to a baby's cry And it went la la la la la la la la la La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la This song will begin once again to a baby's cry And it goes la la la la la la la la la La la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la Peace and goodwill to all men and love for the child Oh the whole world is waiting, waiting to hear the song again (la la la la la la la la la) There are thousands standing on the edge of the world (la la la la la la la la la) And a star is moving somewhere, the time is nearly here (la la la la la la la la la) This song will begin once again to a baby's cry

A spaceman came crawling, all battered and bruised, limped all the way back from a planet called Earth, I came to save these people said he, and I gave them the weapons to fight poverty, and all that they did was turn these weapons on each other, then the wealthy turned on me and so did their poor, the rich said I was bad and the poor said I was mad, and those in the middle just wanted to be rich, He said I'm not going back there for two thousand years or more, by then they'll be nobody left from these times, this is one place to stay far far away from, for many thousands of years......
