@@arkiteasy ive found the channel years ago when I was new to Revit. most tutorials in youtube are sped up or too long and unstructured unlike yours which are in-depth and straight to the point! thank you for sharing your knowledge! your channel has been my go to for Revit along with the free learning/training platform. 😀

I think it would be better to create a line based family with voids, then create the ceiling with the edges constrained to the walls. Place the line based family directly on the ceiling edges (this way, the heights of both will always be the same without needing a global parameter). The only extra step would be to use the cut tool to generate the void in the ceiling. Cons: Voids slow down Revit's performance.
