Great video ! A couple of years ago, I just happened to be at Whitley Bay seafront and noticed something was going on, or at least was about to. After a few questions I found out it was bus rally. I quickly took out my phone and filmed some of the buses as they arrived. I even managed to take an open top bus ride to Tynemouth on an old 1966 Leyland bus. My video proved quite popular, but sadly the Whitley Bay Bus Rally never took place again, 2022 was the last one.

Nice one Brian, its great to see we can still see them on our roads and not museums, cheers for watching my video and your comment.

Many thanks for posting this video Mike as I wasn't able to get to Wythall. My favourite has to be the Daimler Fleetline with the Alexander body. I remember them so well as a young boy when they would be on the Leamington Via Kenilworth (Clock Tower).

Pleased you was into buses like myself but only certain company's like Midland Red which I remember having two garages at Leamington Spa, and sadly both have now gone.

Having grown up in, and still living in, a Midland Red/Midland Red West area, I miss seeing the iconic red livery and Midland Red name on full display. Sure, the legal name of my main bus operator may still mention Midland Red, but that’s about it! Another great video! And seeing a Leyland National on the road nowadays is just epic!

Midland Red buses famous for the unusual shaped BMMO vehicles in the 1960s. Midland Red based in Birmingham operated in a huge area with depots in Hereford and Shrewsbury in the west, Stafford in the north, Leicester in the east, Gloucester and Banbury in the south so it was possible to see a Midland red bus in Chester, Stoke on Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Peterborough, Northampton, Oxford, Bristol, and eastern parts of Wales.
@antman09ful1Ай бұрын
Yes indeed it was a great bus company, I enjoyed going round many garages in the very early sixty's.

Brilliant. Big fan of Midland Red since the age of 10. Used the 150 B’ham to Stratford upon Avon route. Favourite D9 although LD8 very often used on this route along with older D5 (?) and later DD11 Daimler Alexander……..

Absolutely wonderful, i wish i travelled from Devon to attend but we had terrible problems trying to find hotel accommodation, loads of rooms were available in Central Birmingham but fat too expensive, the cheapest was £243 and no breakfast, we were not prepared to pay that for Birmingham.
@antman09ful1Ай бұрын
That price is ridiculous, you may have done better around by the airport on the Coventry Road travelling into Birmingham. But that info may help in the future, but thank you so much for your kind comment which I appreciate very much.
