I don't know much about this celebration. Do all Mexicans in Mexico celebrate it? Doesn't this go against Catholicism? Is it like our Halloween which depends on the person's religious beliefs if whether or not it's okay to celebrate it?

Yes, it's a celebration that now expands beyond all of Mexico. No, it does not go against Catholicism, but it is a syncretism of that religion and meso American’s tradition to celebrate death and not fear it. No, it is not a Mexican Halloween, it does not have any Anglo influence. Who you celebrate is your loved ones, honoring them with a dinner of their favorite food.
