It's been 6 years since Bob & Paul first ventured out fishing together for the TV. The pair celebrate this occasion with a gift and some Beatles impressions.

It was sad to see Bob struggling but so damn sweet and touching to see Paul take care of him. It breaks my heart that he’s had such bad luck with his health.☹️Especially with the misery of his Rheumatoid Arthritis returning - a horrific and agonising disease that my mother has suffered with for over 20 years. Bob is the antidote to all things bad in life and has unfailingly and, most likely, unknowingly made life better for so many of us in our most hopeless and dark times for many years. I sincerely hope he has something that does the same for him. I’ve gone through the entire back catalogue of these episodes twice now and I’m seeing how long I can go before I start all over again. I give it til the end of the week … Unfortunately, nothing else quite hits the spot. Or rather, fortunately… Thanks, everyone for making this. You’re worth a lifetime of licence fees x 1000.

Bob made me laugh for the first time in weeks. "You don`t want to live forever do you"? "I don`t want you to". Thats why I love these videos. Thank you Bob and can Ted have more airtime please. 😉

Last night (3rd Dec) , I watched on Dave the Christmas program when the cast of ‘Only fools and horses’ were singing carols outside the place that Bob had booked them into. It was a thrill to watch it again, very touching, lots of fun and poignant moments when Robert gave Paul a folder of items of Paul’s mothers that he never seen before. Are they doing a Christmas edition for 2023/4 ? And awaaay

Gone Fishing has always seemed to me to be one of those flipping rare, happy little accidents of a program idea. It just "works" on all sorts of levels. I don't know really how it came about, I guess someone thought it a good idea to film Bob and Paul having a good time fishing, as they would have anyway, even without a film crew with them and to see how things went. Bless whomever that was, as in my opinion anyway, it's up there with the way classic British TV used to be taken a chance on, such as Morecambe and wise or the two Ronnie's, just with fishing, oh and Ted. For a program such as it to even be considered, let alone made these days IS a remarkable stroke of luck for us all really.

Hello there, It came about as Bob had to have a triple heart bypass and Paul gave him a "helping hand" after to "get back into the world" essentially. They went Fishing, then thought after a few times they could maybe make a programme out of it. Bob writes quite a bit about it in his (excellent) autobiography "..And Away" as well as many other troubles he's been through. There's also a book of the series "Gone Fishing", under the same name. Hope this helps. 👍

@@DaveandBuddyOutdoors Great stuff to know! I know they both were good friends before the programme. Just admire the fact that someone at the BBC clearly thought there idea a good one, which in these times of sometimes questionable ideas for such things, strikes me as a brave move. I'll look up both books for self Xmas presents :) Thank you Dave, you were indeed a help and then some :)

One of the most wonderful , informative programmes ever . I love the gentleness and easy going banter between Bob and Paul . Never thought I'd say this but I enjoy these two as much as Vic and Bob's previous shows . Read if you can Bob's autobiography , what a man !! Have I got the job Bob 😉😅

Despite knowing how this ended I was suddenly worried to think Paul would come back and find Bob had passed away while listening to the birds. Well I can think of worse ways to go.
