Losing a parent is so hard, but knowing that their not suffering and with the Lord, helps a lot. Daddy can't come back to our family, but we can go to him. Sending our heartfelt sympathy to your family. When my Daddy died I heard an expression I remember to this day, Earth's loss is heavens gain. It's not goodbye, but goodnight see you in the morning 🙏✝️♥️

You have been missed by many, Tipper. I'm sure that Miss Cindy will be missed for a long time to come. She raised a great son and a solid citizen. His compassion and kindness to others and his sense of responsibility toward his family is exemplary. If one leaves a legacy of such children, they've made a great contribution to society. The values that she imparted to Matt are being passed on to Katie and Corie. You all will be in my thoughts tomorrow. May your warm memories of Miss Cindy give solace to you all.

My mother was from Kentucky and died 4 years ago tragically of pancreatic cancer at 84 years old. I don't hear southern accents much since I live California now, so I love listening to you guys talk. It reminds me of my grandma and my mother gardening, cooking, talking, making simple delicious food. My mom made cornbread with bacon grease, and the best fried chicken. I loved the green onions, tomatoes and cucumbers and lemonade for Sunday suppers. Plus the desserts. Thank you for producing this great channel!

Y’all have been in my thoughts and prayers for awhile now. My daddy died with lung cancer, as a matter of fact it will be one year he has been gone on the 27th. He also suffered, wasted away to a fraction of the man he once was. I watched my hero go from the toughest man I know to the very weakest. He would tell us he was so sorry when we had to help take him to the bathroom, he would say I never wanted my girls to take care of me. It was just my mom, and my sister ,and me. He lost all his pride and dignity BUT one thing he never lost was his faith and the night before he went into the coma state he was in ,he was praising the Lord. I too thank God for hospice and the sweet nurses that were with us and cared about Daddy. Honestly your channel and the things that you said around Christmas is what helped me get through the holidays. You have no idea the impact y’all have on everyone that watches you. You helped me get through one of the darkest times of my life. Your love for family and the Lord was such an inspiration. I wish I could do the same for y’all ,but I can pray for you and trust the Lord for your peace and comfort. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family. (((Hugs)))

Look at the pride in Matt's eyes when he speaks about his daughters caring for their grandmother. You both can be very proud of instilling the love of God and family into your children. My wife and I have 7 kids and the world has gotten to many of them despite our best efforts. Our community isn't as tight-knit as your mountain community, though I wish that it were. Ours is very rural. Our closest Walmart is 45 minutes away, but so few go to church around here anymore that it's sad. I hope the 'south' never loses it's reputation for church-going people. I've seen far too many kids go to church, get confirmed, then disappear. It's so sad.

Tipper, it was a very compassionate thing you did when you told Miss Cindy even if she didn't remember you, you would still be there. It brought on tears. My mother fought cancer and also had Alzheimers. She lived with it about 7 years. She did forget who I was by name, but every time I was with her I could tell by the look in her eyes that she knew who I was. I will be praying for your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss and continue to pray for your family! Tipper, you're the first person who ever described the waiting and watching the loss of a loved one the way I felt it. I know you are experiencing loss, but you've helped me heal a bit with the loss of my Dad. I watched him lay in hospice for 9 days thinking, "will this never end?" I didn't want him to die, but he was so ready to go home. It's difficult because you don't know what they know, hear, fell, etc. You also feel this tug to grieve but you feel held back because they are still here. It's such a hard place to be in. I understand what you're saying and thank you for saying it! Prayers and love!

A funeral is for the living. We need the ritual to help in the grieving process and we need to share our love and sorrow with others. I've always felt it was selfish of the sick to say they didn't want anything. I just don't know what I would have done if I'd honored by husband's wish to just be buried, no service. His mother needed that ritual and the ones he grew up around wanted to pay their respects to his family and mine, our friends wanted the same. We need that fellowship to start our heart to heal.

I just watched Pap and Paul sing. What a Blessing that you came from such an awesome family. You your husband, your girls and Granny are such a joy to watch. My Dad passed at age 42, I was 20. I always wonder how great it would have been for my daughter and grand kids to have known him. As a believer, I know he, my Mom, my Brother, and Grandma are resting in Peace, with no sadness, no pain, no hunger and no thirst. At leat thats what I pray for in my daiky prayers. I also ask our Lord and Savior and Almighty God to Grant them Memory Eternal and for forgiveness of sins. We are Russian Orthodox and all of ou famiky have been brought up in the Orthdox Church, since my GG and Papa came from Russia in 1913. I feel very Blessed to have worshipped with so many elderly people, it really humbles you. Prayers for you, your husband, the girls and your family. May God Grant Miss Cindy Eternal Memory and forgive her sins. Rest in peace Miss Cindy. fyi I am born and raised in Michigan. 🙏💜🙏

I held my husband's uncle's hand during his last breaths. He had prostate cancer that spread. He was a long-term resident at hospice for about 3 months. At the very end, he was in a comatose state for over a week. We were there daily. He was at odds with his children and hadn't spoken to them for years but wanted to make amends. We contacted them to let them know what was going on, but they never showed up. He held on as long as he could. It was one of the most difficult things to watch. It's exhausting. I know yall are exhausted mentally and physically. One of the best things you can do is take naps. Miss Cindy would want you to rest. It is great that she knew how loved she was. She's lucky to have had you as her family. Many prayers today as you lay her to rest (I'm writing this on Monday morning). BTW, when it snows big, we will all be expecting a sledding video 😂

So sorry for your loss. At least she didn't suffer too long and her family were there. You never really lose them as you still carry them in your heart and your head. You just have to celebrate their life and be amazed at her strength. Mum said to us that no-one was allowed to cry and no-one was to wear black at the tea we had after the funeral. She said she was tired and had enough as she was in hospital then community hospital for the last thirteen weeks of her life. I think I told you that the last thing she said to me the night before was that she couldn't stay as her mum and dad were waiting at the top of the street. My sister and I got to the hospital too late the next morning and just hope she didn't realise. You will have to spend time in the garden, it is a great healer. Take care of yourselves and take time to grieve.

Stoic. Miss Cindy seemed stoic in her approach to what came. So dignified! I admire her very much. God bless you all. Thinking of you today as you lay her to rest, and praying for you. 🙌🏼 🕊 💞 P.s. What a beautiful choice for her resting place, remembering it from videos past. THANK YOU all and God bless you all.

Well bless Miss Cindy. She is free of that ole cancer and hurting body. Thankful that she’s at rest and now may the Lord wrap his loving arms around you all. In my 74 years, I’ve had to say goodbye see you soon, to so many. The hardest was my Mother. Although I wouldn’t want her to be here in her broken body I am so thankful to the Lord Jesus that one day i will be able to hug her neck and ask her to show me all around heaven. I’m praying for your grieving hearts. Thank you for coming on and sharing with us. Much love to all!🥲❤️✝️🙏

I was caretaker for both my grandpa’s and my granny. They all died within 4 years of each other. I was at their bedside when each of them passed. It’s the hardest times of my life. I still live with some of the moments of those times. It’s hard, very hard. I know y’all don’t know me from Adam, but I love y’all and I’m praying for all of you.

Wow, Thanks for honoring Ken Roper. I went & subscribed to the BlindPigAndTheAcorn & gladly enjoyed reading Ken Ropers writings, you had highlighted.Makes me wish I could have known him, he seemed like a great good hearted, life loving, Appalachian Mountain man, that probably never meet a stranger, as in taking a liking to everyone. You can see in his writings he definitely loved his roots, with his mountain raising. Especially loved the line who wrote .... : After just 10 days my green beans have busted through summer lifting their seed just like they scored a touchdown .hahaha, that's exactly what a fresh risen bean plant looks as it breaks the ground with the bean seed at the top of the plant. You can tell this guy has a great sense of humor, that everyone would love. Can't wait to start reading more of the Blind Pig and Acorn.😁👍

Tipper and Matt, it was good to see y'all today. I see your strength and your faith, but I see your sadness too. I shed tears when your voice broke Tipper. Please know that we will all be here and rewatching videos until you feel like making new ones. I just want you to take care of yourselves and each other. I have been through this and know the toll it takes on loved ones as we are caregivers. I wish I could just reach through the screen and hug all of you. Y'all continue to be in my prayers and on Monday I will be lifting each of you up throughout the day. Y'all are such a precious family. May God Bless you!🙏🏻❣🙏🏻

My mother picked wild doc & dandaline, and always had kale, mustard and collard greens…she would always cook the early wild greens with her home grown greens . Now that was a feast on the first picking of wild greens…we always had cornbread, soup bean, fried potatoes, peach cobbler. To drink it was ice koolaide, milk, and hot coffee. We would have this on a Friday evening.yum.

I lost my parents many years ago. My mom's been gone for almost 15 years now and my dad has been gone for 10 years. There are many times that I think of my parents and miss them. You are right, Tipper, grieving is forever, but we have the memories forever. Another hard loss for us was when my nephew died in a car crash a couple of years ago at the age of 25 - my sister's only child. I'm praying for God's comfort for all of you.

I will keep your family in my prayers. I still have both of my parents and cannot imagine life without either one of them. Both of you have been and the girls have been so strong throughout this whole thing. It's truly a testament to your faith. As far as herbs go I've got a yard full of something and I didn't know what it was. On one of your videos Matt was showing an app that he had on his phone that would identity plants by taking a picture of them. I downloaded the same app on my phone and then went to my field of this mysterious weed. It turns out that I've got about 1/4 acre of self heal. I mow it every week and it seems to just come back thicker each time!! I didn't plant it and don't know how it go there. Let me know if yours doesn't make it and I'll send you three or four hundred plants! Thinking of your whole family with much love, Bucky Dover

I didn't know how much I really needed to hear someone talk about the experience of watching a loved one die. I lost my sister 2 years ago. I went home to help out my mom who was her caregiver and she quickly declined while I was there. I was able to show her how much I loved her. I fed her her last meal. It felt strange because she was my big sister, but I just wanted her to feel how much I loved her. We couldn't have a funeral or memorial because it was during the pandemic. I don't talk about my grief because I think it can't compare to my parents' grief. Listening to you really helped. I cried a bit and it was a relief. Sending your family love and light.

Don't know if this will make a bit of sense, but my overwhelming feeling when watching this video was that in spite of the sad and serious things being discussed - and they make me sad too and have ever since finding out about Miss Cindy's illness. In spite of these things Tipper, your and Matt's attitude and integrity and the sense of peace surrounding you are such that when y'all sat down to have a popsicle and you could hear the birds chirping gently, it was like "Matt and Tipper are having a popsicle talk, God's in His heaven, all's right with the world," and peace settled over me in spite of the troubles that seem to surround us on all sides. Your family is such a blessing, and I hope it did you and Matt good to talk about recent events and did Katie good to work in the garden. So sorry about the loss of your friend Kenneth, and will be praying for you tomorrow. ♥️

I just passed 2 years since my mom passed from cancer and we took care of her at home until she died. It is the hardest and sweetest thing to be with someone you love at that time. I can testify that having lost my mom in fall of 2018 was one of the hardest emotional experiences I have ever gone through in my lifetime. So I completely can relate to your pain matt. Take comfort in knowing that your mother is nolonger suffering and now has a whole heavenly body again. On Sunday we lost my dad's youngest brother Joe Denton. He was suffering from advanced stages of Parkinson disease and had caught pneumonia. So yesterday uncle Joe gained just angel wings. Please keep his wife Patsy Denton. His daughter Mary Ann Lewis and do. Tommy Joe Denton and our other Denton family members in your prayers. I can tell that my dad took this rough. It was down to only my father Ray Denton and his baby brother who were left on this earth out of the 6 Denton boys. Now it is down to my father who will be turning 84 in middle of September.
