Both my Mom's paternal side and my Dad's paternal side were from the Appalachian mountains on the Kentucky side. Before I was born they had already moved to the foothills of the Appalachians. When we went to visit them, there was a certain point where I could start to see the blue mountains in the distance and I always felt like "I'm home". When y'all were driving and I could see the blue mountains in the background, it reminded me of those days. Sweet memories. Thanks for taking us along on your trip to visit Matt's family. That food looked delicious! To me, nobody cooks better than country people.

We’ve been on the same roads. Been to that shopping center in Waynesville. We had relatives that lived in Waynesville but they’re all gone. Wish you would have gone thru Franklin. Glad y'all had a trip. I've been through that very spot where y'all got off the highway. It's been awhile ago but I remembered it immediately. I used to live outside Spartanburg and rambled around the mountains quite a bit. Hope y'all all have a very Merry CHRISTmas! I have been to the smokies , and look out mountains, but these just does something to me. I know this trip means so much to you all.
