There was no other show like the "Daytime Emmy Awards". God, how I miss those years. The new generations will never know how much our "soaps", "shows", "stories" whatever you prefer meant to us and became part of our tv household families that we lived through. I'm sure these networks are kicking themselves in the .....ss and realizing what the fans have always said and that was taking them off the air was their biggest mistakes. All these talk shows coming and going and not even lasting 1 season while you had 50 yr shows that were able to last 100 more.

+Brad Brooks Amen! :) Loved when the Daytime Emmys were a big splashy event, aired on network primetime, treated with class (mostly), and the presentation of Emmys to daytime soaps were revered rather than rushed. Crazy how those born after 2000 have little to no clue about these TV gems. :)

Whoever made this montage put way too many clips of Laura Wright's Cassie in there, I count at least half a dozen. And some of the show's greatest faces were completely overlooked.

Yes but the British soap Awards are just as fun to watch as well. When they give an Honorary Award, they only announce it during Showtime so the Actor's reaction is priceless. This year they gave it to Rudolph Walker who is now The Longest Running Black Soap Actor in the UK as Patrick Trueman who runs the Neighborhood Convenience Store on Eastenders. Sometimes I forgot what a "legend" Ruby Dee was. Doing A Raisin In The Sun On Broadway than the Movie Version, doing Guiding Light replacing Cicely Tyson, then doing Peyton Place with Glynn Turman (who also played her son in "Raisin"), who would do Cooley High The Black American Graffitti. Then playing The Adult Queen in Roots The Next Generations, then Mother-Sister in Do The Right Thing, then playing Denzel Washington's Mother in American Gangsta.

Guiding Light and As The World Turns were the two best Soap Shows Ever. The remaining four soaps still on the air don't hold a candle to ATWT or GL. If CBS was smart they would bring back these two awesome soap operas!

Thank you. My heart aches when I see Michael Zaslow--and how I loved Richard & Cassie--truly sad that he was killed on-screen. I loved seeing James Lipton, Jordan Clarke, Maeve Kinkead, Robert Newman, Krista Tesreau & Kim Zimmer..GL & its cast has seen me through many brain surgeries/ankle surgeries/scholastic snafus/employment debacles too numerous to list here & I have had the amazing opportunity to speak with Vincent Irizarry in the ICU post-op after brain surgery in the ICU....with all the meds coursing through my IV & his soothing, soul-healing voice in my ear, I was flying with GLee & feeling little pain...how I miss that show. Thanks again.

Omg I miss my favorite Soap so badly. I was so pissed when they canceled it. Why cancel something that was so good??? Unreal. Now we don't really have a good soap opera anymore. Y&R is still on, Hope they don't go off air. Love GL.

I still miss GL. One of my favorite storyline was the death of Maureen. As hard as it was knowing that Ellen Parker was leaving she did an outstanding job.

Guiding Light also had the Midas Touch for Casting The Cream Of The Crop Of African American Actors. I told Fans who still loved watching Do The Right Thing how Giancarlo Esposito and Ruby Dee were both on the show back in the day. 2002 was quite a Bone Chilling Year. Guiding Light Celebrates Two Anniversaries 65 Overall and 50 On TV. Dick Clark did the "Last" American Bandstand TV Special not knowing how so many folks were going to die in the next couple of years most notably Michael Jackson. The Boy Band/Girl Group Phenomenon was about to peter out in the US but in the UK a Brand New Girl Group called Girls Aloud would be created who are the most successful in Reality TV. Their producers known as Xenomania who are to the UK what The Neptunes (with our without Pharrell Williams are to the US) a successful Songwriting Team. They gave Cher her Comeback Hit Believe and because of them, she holds the record of having hits in every single decade since she started from the 1960's to the present. God Bless James Lipton.

The part where folks are dancing at The Policeman's Ball was very touching. It was a belated tribute to the Victims of 9/11 and back in the day alot of Soaps were filmed in New York City.

I love this clip and song. Now this was a beautiful tribute to celebrate Guiding Light 50 years on the air and that crap shown at the Emmys in 2010 of a 30 or 45 second clip.

I think ABC took advantage of the fact that the 2012 Daytime Emmys were on HNN and refused to release any clips. I didn't even watch AMC (except when Anna was on) or OLTL (I tried it out when JvD joined as Clint, but just couldn't connect), but I felt so bad for those fans that didn't even get a bad montage. But, hey, at least you guys are back on Hulu!

Kevin Bacon, Calista Flockhart, Melina Kanakardes, Sherry Stringfield, Sharon Leal, Jennifer Holliday, John Wesley Shipp, Billy Dee Williams, James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Taye Diggs, Angela Basset, and Rachel Miner.

When you see that entire cast up on that stage, it makes you really appreciate this show more. I'm still angry how they trashed it in the last few years by cutting the funding but the writers did their best to give viewers a proper ending during the last episode. I do hold onto hope though that one day, CBS can eliminate the talk shows and get a new soap opera that can somehow bring back characters from GL and also ATWT. Write the show in a way that the characters can be connected to the two remaining soaps we still have so it opens the doors for crossover characters. Newman Oil for example could invest in a new, large operation in a new town which attracts others as job opportunities arise. Lauren Fenmore from Genoa City could open a boutique...Barbara and Carly from ATWT take on management of said boutique...Jack takes a position within the police dept in the new town. Utilize a story that can evolve as the characters adjust to their new lives and new challenges as they literally build a new town.

Blake also had more shots in this montage than I would expect. I know they were trying to include all the current cast and blend in the past characters.
