@@Dailyproductions-g3n it's a busy city now not just a town on the Gulf with hidden beautiful beaches. When I moved here I was east of I-75, it took over 30 minutes to drive into town which meant to the Publix at fruitville/ beneva road to get food once a month in bulk . Most roads were 2 lanes and there was no real traffic. It's still a beautiful town but nothing like what it used to be and I hear from people that have lived here longer how much more beautiful used to be.

Have lived in Sarasota for many years, Florida for 50 years, and it has many fine qualities of life. You should also know if you are thinking of settling here housing is very expensive, snowbird season makes it heavily congested to the point where if you live on the middle of a barrier island it can take 45 minutes to get on or off the island. Summer months are very hot. There is also unchecked new construction countywide, adding to the congestion. There are tradeoffs to living anywhere, so be aware before you commit.

Snowbird season is going to be a thing of the past as it's already disappearing as more and more people are staying. Even in the summer it's difficult to get over the bridges in a timely manner to the point I no longer go near beaches or places like Mote Marine Aquarium. Traffic is getting out of hand and the loss of nature is just sad.

What an excellent episode! Thank you for putting all this together. So much information! I had to watch twice and I will view it again. I loved seeing Myakka River State Park. Sorry you couldn't climb the suspended walkway, but I'm glad it wasn't totally destroyed and can be fixed. Turtle Beach is by far my favorite, too, but let's tell people it's terrible there, OK? It can be our secret. I can't wait to see the gulf again. It is nice that you are putting yourself and Bella in the videos more. It makes it feel like I'm there, too. I appreciate all the work you put in to share your travels and what you learn along the way, and as a new dog owner, the info about pet-friendly places (more than I thought there'd be) has been great. Peace & Prayers.

The best thing about growing up on Siesta Key during the entire 60"s and half the 70"s is leaving. My brother still there who remembers when Siesta Drive was a dirt road thru the village. I remember Dino the dinosaur sinclair gas station and pink sidewalks funded by John Ringling the circus magnate. Great content showcasing the Florida landscapes, they have an idyllic aquatic lifestyle, the continuous beaches, the lakes, rivers, waterways, there is no wonder they also have a "Venice" just like LA - California, and you would not believe it, that even Venezuela is named after Venice, for all the canal systems the Spanish Explorers found when they got there in the 1500's. If the Florida needs another "place-name" for it's scenic surrounds. I imagine another "variation" of Venice, the original name of Venice, which was "Ravenna"

@321gates
@321gates Жыл бұрын
@georgehorner1578 Siesta Key is probably not the key you're thinking of. Many Florida islands are referred to as "keys" but are not part of the "Florida Keys," which is a string of islands off the southern most tip of Florida. That is where the clearest water and coral reefs are. There are many great areas to snorkel down there. Check out alligator reef if you really want to see some beautiful water. There are many videos of the location on KZbin. As for beaches, the Keys (Florida Keys) only offer a few small ones that can be accessed without a boat. That is the one downside of the area. Believe it or not, though, some of the clearest water in Florida is found inland, thanks to our countless freshwater springs. A diver/snorkelers paradise. Just watch out for gators. 😁
@paulw4310
@paulw4310 Жыл бұрын
@@georgehorner1578 Excellent answer, 321gates. It's a common misconception, due to the name "keys" that the Gulf barrier islands are referring to the Florida Keys. As for the keys mentioned in this video, Siesta Key unquestionably has the whitest sand. Other than the panhandle/Panama City area, it's the whitest sand in Florida; much more so than say Caspersen Beach (also mentioned in this video) which is only several miles to the south and has very dark sand. For snorkeling, unfortunately in a way, the best time of year is summer...the 3 "H"s--hot, humid and hurricane season. Typically, the warmer the water, the clearer it is. Like 321 says, snorkeling trips to the reef, available all the way down the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1) offer far more scenic snorkeling. Speaking of Caspersen Beach, a little south of Sharky's On The Pier (great Island Jambalaya...assuming you like jambalaya!), in the 80s fossilized shark teeth were incredibly abundant and very easy to find. Not so much anymore...I rarely see them these days. Whether you choose the Florida Keys, the Gulf Islands or inland...ENJOY!😎

Thankyou, yep the whole Tampa Bay Area has seen a huge increase in property, but I think some of that will drop as interest rates climb...There are still deals to find if you don't mind being alittle ways away from the Gulf

@@TampaAerialMedia for sure! I worked as camera operator, asst camera for PBS/Cousteau. Owned a production business..all before digital occurred. I shot hi8, then mini-dv, underwater camera ops. I'm well aware of post, edit, format, sequences etc. Again, well done. I'm planning to move there so finding your vid was sublime my brother. Word:)

Man you gotten some amazing shots of Sarasota. Born and raised here. Always something to do. Those banana boat rides are such a good time. Just hanging out on the beach and seeing it going back and forth, you are able to call aqua adventures and pay through phone and just run out to it and jump on. Sunset boat rides are always beautiful as well. Cheers

In 1940 to 1950 i lived on the corner of Stickney Pt Rd. And South Tamiami Trail in a Trailor Park, there was nothing else around. When i got to around 6 or 7 me and my friend would walk down to the beach on siesta key, nobody around, we were the only ones on the beach. Not like today i feel so sad to see the crowd of people there today. I am now 83yo. I remember point of rocks, where are the rocks?? My farther would take me down to the bait shop at midnight pass to fish. Midnight pass rd. was just crushed coral. The bait shop was the only building on the key at the time i think. Everything was sand dunes. In 1950 we moved to Mass. I missed Fla. I retired and moved to St. Pete where i live today. SKY

@@TampaAerialMedia Yes the changes are tremendous. I remember my farther saying no one wants Fla to hot.. I remember all the bridges were made of wood, and the only way into this area was on Rt. 301. In the fall we would go to the train station and watch Ringling Bros. Circus come for their winter stay. The Sarasota airport was just a grass strip. Yeah, i have seen a lot. RAY aka (SKY)🤠😎

Wow it pretty there. This may be one of my favorite places in Florida that I never been to. Checked rates for October,there are at least a few places you can stay for less than $200. So it can be affordable. I'm sure it's not going to change but a ad every 3 to 4 minutes,that's worse than tv.

Just curious but how current is this footage - is this post hurricane Ian? It looks like a pretty great place to stay. Thanks, nicely presented… Wow I see that it IS current - that’s great! I know some of the East coast because my entire immediate family (except for me - I was away at college) moved to Port Charlotte back in ‘73 but in less than a year they re-located to Boca. So most of my experience is either the East coast or Key West and the keys but the West Coast looks great. Nice video!
